Chapman’s Food Mart — Local services in Lorain

The staff at Chapman's has always been helpful, efficient, very friendly & courteous to me, with the exception of the owner himself who I've witnessed being rude & condescending to patrons many times. His presence definitely doesn't help the many other shortcomings this market has. It is convenient for those who live in the area, but they definitely know this & take full advantage. Their prices are ridiculously high for household necessities you may run out of & need to obtain quickly, like butter, milk, salad dressing etc. The place could definitely stand to be MUCH cleaner, which perplexes me since they seem to have many more people working at a time than necessary. They have a good variety of snacks & beverages but don't count on them having anything from the grocery or health/beauty categories. Their hot food is often raved about, but I don't see what all the fuss is about. It isn't awful, just very middle of the road & also very overpriced. I've witnessed friends find their chicken undercooked, fatty & completely drenched in grease, though I personally have never dealt with this issue. All in all, Chapman's success hinges largely on fact that many people in the area have nowhere else to go, and seem to thrive on that...

It's unfortunate and sad but I will not be going here any longer. The only time I come is to get calzones and it's been quite some time since I got my last one. I was told tonight that ownership has changed and you can tell because the last time I was there the store looked totally different than what it does now. This is the last time I'll be going to get a calzone because it has definitely changed. The breading is soft and mushy, I put it in my air fryer to crisp it up, it was extremely greasy, and when I got it out of my car it was all on the seat, which it was never this greasy before. The customer service was good and the guy that cooked the calzone he is only one out of the two original people that are still there. I've only gotten chicken there one time and it wasn't that good the breading was very salty and it wasn't crispy and the pizza...
