Went for the cooking with tequila class with Chef Cori and Sous Chef Mayra and had an absolute hoot. The class format is one giant table with two people per station and each station has their own utensils and burner.
You first start off with Margaritas, which were absolutely delicious, but be warned before you come to eat something light to soak up the goodness. The class was at 7:00 pm and I usually eat at 5:30 or 6:00, so in hind sight it's a good idea to have a little something in case you're an early eater. Chef Cori was great and even made us a quick hibiscus simple syrup to add to the top since there happened be some in the pantry. Very yummy.
Chef Cori went over some knife skills with us and we started chopping. We help cut up items for our steaks so they could start marinating. Then after that we started working on our ceviche. We had to let the fish cook a little in the lime so we set that to the side.
The next part was my absolute favorite which is Queso Fundido. It's like cheese fondue (for those that haven't had it before). Typically I've seen it cooked with chorizo, but this time we cooked it with habanero and jalapenos. Honestly it was some of the best queso fundido I've had, and it's cool to know I made it! They gave us tortilla chips and we could ask for more if we needed/wanted more.
With our fish now ready we started chopping the rest of our veggies and assemble our ceviche. I loved that it was customizable it was because we're cooking it.
For dessert we had flambeed bananas which was the first time I ever flambeed something. It was served along with some ice cream and was a great way to end the evening.
Final points, yes the parking is a little sketch, it's downtown LA. But once you're inside the building is neat and the space is huge. It's a fun class to learn basics and just interact. We had all levels of experience in the room but we all just had a good time. Definitely looking forward to...
Read moreMy hubby and I signed up for a cooking class at Eatz and it was a very small space to cook. We had one camping stove for both of us. All the couples had the same small space however if you signed up solo you got the same space and the same amount of ingredients so it felt like we should have signed up separate for two spots and had more space and food to cook with and learn individually versus splitting the cooking in a very tight spot. We did love our chef that taught us that day. If you don’t drink like we do, there isn’t a substitute they provide that is non alcoholic and I feel like there should be other than water. It was also super hot in the space and fans would have been great there. All in all, I did like what we made but would not go again for the price. Two people who sign up together get the same space and ingredient amount as someone who signs up solo. Doesn’t seem too fair. It was fairly pricey. Knives were super dull and felt a little low budget. There were lots of corners cut like no to go containers for food you made. Not enough vegetarian swap Outs. Elbows bumping our neighbors because they didn’t have enough...
Read moreI recently attended the Pasta Making class, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The class was perfect for beginners, as Chefs Cori and Deb provided thorough instructions on basic knife skills and kitchen etiquette, making the culinary process both accessible and enjoyable. They expertly guided us through the art of making pasta dough from scratch, and we had the pleasure of learning how to craft two types of pasta: ravioli and linguine. The atmosphere of the class was both lively and engaging, complemented by music and wine, which created a welcoming environment for everyone present. The mix of attendees was wonderful, including couples, groups of friends, and solo food enthusiasts, all united by a love of food. What made the class stand out was the chefs' approachable teaching style and their ability to make complex cooking techniques seem easy. Whether you're just starting your culinary journey or looking to refine your pasta-making skills, this class offers a unique and enriching experience that I...
