Unfortunately, I would not recommend this facility for the care of patients with dementia or any other mental deficits. They are bare bones staffed with nurses and CNA’a who do not have adequate knowledge of geriatrics or mental health. The patients receive medication, 3 small meals, and incontinent care for their Medicaid and monthly Social Security checks. My loved, who is 62 with a brain injury, sleeps in food encrusted shirts unless I’m there to change them. The only liquid he’s offered are the few sips he gets at mealtime, if I’m not there to give it to him. When he was admitted in March 2021, he was heavily medicated which caused sedation to keep him “manageable“ so he can no longer walk, which he loved to do, because he’s lost bone and muscle mass in his legs. As a result he developed blood clots in his legs which went to his lungs. He has was only sent to the hospital on my insistence when I found him barely responsive, breathing shallowly, and hot to the touch. Where were his caregivers and why didn’t they know his condition?! He had a 102.7 degree fever and was diagnosed with Pneumonia as well as having 2 large blood clots in his lungs. He was placed on a Heparin drip to thin his blood, intubated, ventilated, and then Air lifted to Piedmont Atlanta ICU by the ER Physician, because the local hospitals who had qualified doctors to treat him were on diversion. I drive 50 minutes from Martinez to Louisville to visit him (to and from), something his few family members and friends cannot afford. Several times I have asked the case manager there for help in relocating him to a facility closer to us, so that we could help with his care, but I was told it wasn’t possible because he’s on psych meds and there are no beds. He is bedridden, nonverbal, and as weak as a kitten so he’s low maintenance which is attractive to nursing homes wanting to make a profit. I also know that it being Flu and COVID season there are beds becoming available. Pruitt--Health should be ashamed at the quality of care patients receive in this facility , and the lack of caring support afforded to families. They may be able to look the other way on their stroll to the bank today, but no amount of profit will be worth it when it’s their turn to reap what...
Read moreFor the first in John Drew's life he is not drinking and is on the correct medication. That is the best thing in the world for him the VA didn't do a thing for him. That part is a five star. The 4 part score I would give is,but I wish people, and they may, would do more activities with John. Fill the bird feeder I would buy the seed. Maybe have a tread mill and have him use it. John walked his whole life well 12 years and he is young and needs the excersize medication is good but it should combine with exercise. Not everyone in a nursing...
Read moreThe staff here are kind, professional, and knowledgeable in all departments. They strive to do their best for each resident. I have 2 close family members there. I was a nurse in my old life, so i know what to look for. I have zero complaints about the care they receive. One of them is very clear-headed and would be able to let me know if something was ever amiss. He says they are all nice and take care of anything that arises in a timely manner. I wish all long-term care facilities were...
