On and off for the last 20+ years (yes, 20), I have been looking for my perfect gemstone. Not just any gemstone, mind you, but the exquisite, color-changing Alexandrite. Originally discovered in Russia and named in honor of Czar Alexander, this perfect gem specimen was elusive to me due to its rarity and cost.

All that changed after a visit to Kappy's Fine Jewelry in the River Bridge Center, Jog Road & Forest Hill Blvd, W.P.B. A casual conversation with Steve Kaye while Anthony installed a new battery in my watch resulted in my being educated about this gemstone's characteristics, how to look for excellent specimens, and the fact that it wasn't as elusive as I thought. In fact, Steve had me look at his website where beautiful genuine Alexandrites of all sizes and prices were available. Steve also made suggestions to the type of ring and mounting which would highlight this beautiful gem. Did I mention Steve Kaye is a Gemologist, G.I.A.? He definitely knows his "stuff!"

In less than a week, Steve had assembled a selection of rings for me to choose from and surprised me by having flown in the most beautiful genuine Alexandrite to place in my selected ring! WOW! A week later, I arrived to pick up my new Alexandrite ring and I haven't been able to stop looking at it ever since. The color change in different light sources is "crisp" and the clarity is flawless. Thank you Steve! This beautiful Alexandrite ring was definitely worth the 20+ year wait!

Five stars!!! Kappy’s Fine Jewelry is top notch. I recently visited the store to have my wedding ring of 25 years repaired after my diamond came out. Fortunately I found the diamond. I was then given options to have either the ring repaired, or replace the diamond in a new setting. Anthony the sales associate really took time to give me the best advice on which route to take. I ultimately decided on a new setting and couldn’t be happier. Kappy’s has a huge assortment of settings to chose from. Steve the owner does all the repairs himself there at the store. Nothing is sent out which is a great reassurance. Steve’s work is first class and they had my ring ready in a day.
