I spent a lovely weekend at Skyland on a short solo trip. The weather didn’t cooperate much but I still had a totally awesome time. I stayed in one of the more recently renovated rooms on the ridge and had a great morning and evening view. The staff throughout the park were so friendly and kind! I took a 2.5 hour ride to the falls out of Skyland Stables and Jeremy, my guide, was one of the highlights of my trip! He was so fun and easy to talk to, and like the absent minded person that I was I totally forgot to tip him at the end. IM SORRY JEREMY FORGIVE ME it was really a perfect ride. I couldn’t have asked for better. I spent the next day on a longer and more challenging trail in the nearby national forest with the folks at Fort Valley Ranch. It poured the whole time but we went out and had an amazing time too. I had breakfast in the dining room three mornings in a row- two had the buffet and one was menu only. The food was great! I had dinner at the tap room and had a great time chatting with the servers and bartender. Hope they didn’t mind me hanging around for so long in the evenings. The gift shop is very cute and frankly extremely reasonably priced. I could’ve walked out with one of everything if my budget allowed for it. The views on all the overlooks I stopped at were unbelievable. I wish I’d had time to see all of skyline drive but I’ll definitely be back this summer. I was pretty horse focused this trip but really want to check out some hiking trails too. Thanks to everyone who keeps Shenandoah running, y’all were so friendly, kind, and enthusiastic and really made a difference in the trip. What an absolute treasure of a place, really can’t wait to visit again.

We love Shenandoah. Skyland is a historic camp that was once private. Some of the camps are very old- 1908, 1910. We stayed in a preferred room with balcony/views. Rooms - tv, no fridge, bathrooms clean but older, nice comfy beds and simple. It has more rooms available than we thought. Shocked to learn they had 160 or so. Big meadows has about 80. Location - worth the stay! Breakfast- we sat in main area and enjoyed a delicious meal with view. Wifi- not good. Don't need it but worth mentioning it. You may get some if any at skyland lodge. Stars - amazing Gift shop- some drinks, snacks, hats, shirts and cute souvenirs. If you are a AAA member you get 10% off You can modify your reservation (check reservation number on website) up to 48 hours before stay. I did it with no hassle and they send email of modified dates. Hiking-biking- scenic driving šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

A cozy and inviting common room with a stunning mountain view, perfect for taking a break or getting some light work done. The space is equipped with plenty of power outlets, making it surprisingly laptop-friendly for a lodge in a national park. Many guests gather around puzzles and board games, giving the room a communal and relaxed feel. The stone fireplace crackles warmly, adding both literal and atmospheric warmth. There’s a slight musty scent typical of rustic cabins, but the natural wood and lively fireplace ambiance more than make up for it. A great spot to unwind or enjoy a slower pace indoors.

So I’ll start by saying the staff here was fabulous. Every person that we met in the restaurant, office, gift shop, or around the property was very polite, friendly, and very helpful. We chose to rent one of the ā€œfamilyā€ cabins so we could have more than one bedroom and we spent 3 nights in the ā€œWildwoodā€ cabins (#53/54). The cabins are advertised as rustic and we have stayed in other rustic cabins around national parks. At some point in time, rustic may have been a good description for these cabins but after years (or decades) of neglect, they are just broken down. No maintenance and no upkeep is not ā€œrusticā€. It’s a pathetic misrepresentation that the NPS should be ashamed to offer...
