I played soccer there almost two years ago, and tore my Achilles tendon. I hydrated, I stretched, I did evening possible to ensure that I was warmed up to play. Iâve been playing sports since I could walk with my father. Only 20 minutes into the game, I felt the snap within my soul and I did not even cry. I properly fell on the ground using the rugby falling-on-your-hard-parts -to-protect-your-soft-parts method. I played rugby for 7 years. I played with Army, Air Force, Marines attorneys, police officers, and more. We perceive and process pain differently. The âathletic trainerâ they had stated that I only had a muscle cramp. I have had 4 muscle cramps back to back playing rugby while running suicides. I know the difference between a sprained ankle and a muscle cramp. I tried to express that this was something different to no avail. Emergency services were never called for me. I was just carried off the field to sit and watch my teammates continue play in pain. Because they diminished my pain, I went home trying the R.I.C.E. method. Finally when I couldnât even put weight on my foot in a boot, I knew something was wrong. So I drove myself to the hospital and found out that I had a 3cm tear. I could not even put weight on my foot. I could not even move my foot up and down. I knew it was not just a âtwisted ankle. Iâve done that thousands of times. I knew it was worse but the trainer did not care adequately care for me. My teammate that day was there and she is a Physical Therapist Assistant and she knew that it was a torn Achilles tendon and expressed that. Still nothing was done for me. When I came back in a boot, the trainer had the nerve to say âOh I knew it was a torn Achilles tendon.â What bothered me most is that I am someoneâs child, aunt, daughter I am a person and I was treated like I had just pulled a muscle. You can see from my reviews that I suffered for years and itâs not even the tip of the iceberg of the suffering I have endured since. I have not even been able to set foot at this place since and every time I drive by, I recall the moment that my tendon snapped and how little was done to care for me in my time of need. This is a paragon of an example what people of color mean when they say that are ignored by medical professionals. I did not once receive any southern hospitality whatsoever. No one followed up, no one asked for my number, and they likely did not even properly document my injury. All these years of feeling uncared for hurts. It stinks when you sacrifice everything for everyone else often at the expense of your own needs but no one is there to help you in your time of need. Itâs really hard to continue to have faith in humanity.
I am proud to say that I relearned how to walk WITHOUT pain medication and finished therapy early. Despite how I was poorly treated by a member of your staff I chose to rise above my situation and come out stronger.
I am leaving this review so that others are aware of the lack of care that they employed for me and I hope they do better for someone else. This was my first surgery and I had a horrible experience. I had to wait over a month for surgery because it was during the time when nurses made more traveling. Then the staff threatened to reschedule my surgery if I did not come up with $600 the day before. By and large horrible experience. I saw the brute of ugliness of our country towards a fellow American, a fellow human, a...
Read moreWhat a poor decision and very poor planning by the new owners. Theyâve decided to charge $5/day for parking. By having one âvolunteerâ (he called himself) collecting payments. One person. Oh and itâs cashless so you have to wait for it to process AND canât get a receipt unless you type in your email address. This led to an enormously long line, backing up everyone all the way into the main road with a long line there as well. And if knew how long the entrance/driveway is, then you know that that is a HUGE line. Took almost 20 mins to actually park once arriving. They need at least 4 people out there if cashless. Very poor planning and so inconsiderate or their âcustomersâ. So if you get stuck coming here for a tournament, be sure to add in another 20 mins to your arrival time.
UPDATE: wish I could give less stars. Second time here and just more and more terrible experiences.
The only bathroom canât support the number of people. Half the stalls donât have working latches (or theyâre completely missing). Half way thru the day (when PM wave is just arriving) most have no TP. And no cleaning is done at all thru the day so most are not a pretty site.
Parking is terrible. Not enough spots so you have to pay to jump a curb and park on a scary hill.
They wonât allow outside food but then canât plan well enough to have enough food. We arrived at 12:30pm for the PM wave and were there til almost 9pm one day and will be here til 7 today. Both days they ran out of food (well except for candy). So PM wave folks, be sure to pack a cooler of food for dinner as this facilityâs strong suit is not planning.
3rd year here and canât believe how the quality has gone down. Courts really need to be cleaned and redone! Cleaning between days and throughout the days needs to happen. More chairs and bleachers are needed. Please...
Read moreBeautiful, 5 star facility, but..... Homeschool P.E. is, unfortunately, very disorganized. The 'coaches' are not professional educators, and some of them clearly lack experience with children. My guess is the other reviewer "catrice10" experienced something very similar to what I and some of the other P.E. moms are witnessing from the staff. To make matters worse, many parents were apparently told over the phone that they had the option to show up and register on the first day of P.E. This caused a huge problem when nearly double last year's number of children were unexpectedly registered. The facility was understaffed, and is currently scurrying to try to hire more 'coaches' after the start of classes. A number of Upward staff members are immature, undertrained and unprofessional in their handling of the children and parental concerns. One staff member tried to place the blame for their being understaffed on [procrastinating] homeschoolers not registering sooner. Here's the solution for next year, Upward; have clear beginning and ending registration dates. Never tell people they can show up at the start of classes and register (or even after). Then, leave yourselves plenty of time once registration is over to hire AND TRAIN a sufficient number of coaches (preferably with no more than a 1:15 teacher/student ratio). Well trained, godly staff never make excuses for an organization's shortcomings. They should humbly apologize, acknowledge errors and reassure patrons that all is being done to rectify any situation. If necessary, you offer partial reimbursement to assure customer satisfaction, especially when you are not able to deliver the level of excellence you claim to pride yourselves on. May GOD help your organization to better represent and glorify him...
