My husband and I lived at the Stonemill apartments for 2 1/2 years. We enjoyed living there even though we were initially misled on a few things (told our apartment had a fireplace and extra window it did not). We even had several friends move into the apartments based on our recommendation. We didn’t run into major issues until move out. With our family growing we had to relocate to another state. We moved out about 2 months early with the intention to not resign. BEWARE.. they apparently require a 2 month notice instead of the customary 1 month and will charge you “month to month” automatically if they do no receive a signed piece of paper stating your intention to not renew. We were not aware of this since our lease was unavailable because the resident portal had been changed several times. Apparently they had put a notice on the door of our apartment, which we did not receive since we had moved out of state. Finally, somebody decided to send me an email, which I immediately responded to. They told us it wouldn’t be an issue to lease the apartment to somebody else with demand being so high if we wanted to go ahead and clean and turn in the keys 1.5 months early. We did this and left the apartment in very good condition. Even the maintenance man who did our move out inspection said it was the cleanest he had seen a move out. Fast forward to the present.. they did not re-lease the apartment. They didn’t even start “flipping” it until a month after we had turned in our keys. Now not only have we paid thousands in rent to not even have access to the apartment, but they are charging us almost $400 for a 2”x2” surface level countertop discoloration I could have easily repaired myself if I had known it would be an issue. With our baby due any day now, this is a huge financial burden. I sincerely feel we did everything we could to do right by the company and were model tenants. We had rented with several other locations in Lynchburg and have never encountered such harsh corporate greed. Please.. rent...
Read moreMy fiancé, son and I love it here! It’s a nice security and peace of mind knowing the maintenance crew is always on call and work hard to get your work order you submit, and if they can’t get to you within that day they will tell you the day and time they can arrive.
The ladies at the front desk who guide you through the moving in process are not only very professional but passionate about the work they do. For example, we just moved in the last year in December, and for Valentine’s Day they sent out a email to the residents that they organized a awesome finger food dish that was amazing with a personalized “dyi” cookie creation that you could do with your spouse and also provided beautiful flowers as well! And all that was just generosity and just makes you feel apart of a family here.
Other things to highlight are that these apartments are very well sound proof when it comes to apartments. Of course it’s not 100% it is overall an apartment, but you seriously rarely here your neighbors and the only thing you may here are the doors shutting. And that’s awesome if that’s the most noise you hear. Great living space overall and just very thankful and blessed to be apart of Overlook...
Read moreI must say this has been one of the worst apartments I have ever lived in. When we first moved in, they told us the apartment had been cleaned but when we went to clean it was filthy, with stains everywhere and a lot of leftover pet hair from the people living there before. For the first 4 months I lived there I had water in my closet and their response was to put a dehumidifier and a large fan in my room and work on something after multiple notifications. It took three attempts for the problem to be corrected, and I did not have use of my room nor closet while they were "fixing" the issue.
Towards the end of the lease the A/C unit stopped working and my sister had a water leak in her closet, when they came to look into it, they cleaned the A/C line only to find it backed up for what looked like years. It was full of dark lint and soot.
The entire time we were there, management was unresponsive. Until I reached out to the BBB, they then made contact to address some of the issues I brought up when we...
