I recently had a disappointing encounter with Walmart's delivery service again and then with customer support. Despite using the service frequently, I've often faced problems, including unfulfilled deliveries and instructions and unresponsive local store staff who never once have answered the phone to allow for a resolution. My latest experience was particularly concerning.
I called the 1-800 Walmart Customer Service number after my delivery instructions weren't followed and delivery taken back to store. I hoped to reschedule for an earlier time than the app was offering , but the assistance I received was non existent. The representative in India was clearly under stress, as there was a loud and disturbing commotion in the background. A man, seemingly a supervisor, was yelling at the top of his lungs for nearly five minutes for phones to be put on wifi and other things on their native language I could not understand but I felt terrible for this employee dealing with this mentally unstable and unprofessional supervisor. The representative apologized for the noise, attributing it to a celebration, as someone was just promoted, but the yelling continued. I expressed concern for her safety and decided not to prolong the call, as I didn't want to add to her stress despite my issue was unresolved. I just knew she wanted to get off the phone. I do not know their language and she could have been in self preservation mode. My order is not as important as someone's safety or a situation like the one I bared witness to. In the past I have always had goog customer service from the call center. Not today and I was not feeling entitled to better service over her well-being. I am not from her culture or in her work environment. That is no place I want to be and seriously felt bad for her and wish I never witnessed this on my young son's birthday.
This experience highlighted the challenges faced by customer service representatives. It's clear that Walmart employees often lack the support needed to manage such a large operation effectively. The situation I witnessed was not only unprofessional but also potentially unsafe for the well and mild mannered representative.
In reflecting on this encounter, I'm reminded of the importance of empathy and kindness. While it's frustrating to deal with service issues, it's crucial to treat others with respect and understanding. There are alternative retailers that offer better service, reliability, and hopefully safer work environments, even if in other countries or do not outsource to them. Even if it means paying slightly more, I am cancelling my subscription to Walmart. Not to mention my Walmart account was hacked and Walmart has not informed me, although I did them. I had over $1000 in charges on my Walmart App, Account. Though no banking of mine was affected it shows someone is at least pretending to be me to have a place to make it seem as though online charges originated from my personal Walmart account belonging to me. After I told Walmart about all the charges and that my money is in tact, while requesting knowledge of why are there charges from all over the states.....I was not given an answer. They simply deleted the purchase history and I changed passwords and ordered all new cards with my financial institutions to be safe. Walmart I hope you will address these systemic issues to improve both customer and employee experiences.
No longer am I giving Walmart weekly orders of my business. I cannot after today. I enjoy Amazon and do not know why I have not tried Target's Subscription. I hope you look into the issues in the countries you outsource business to. There was no good reason for what I had to hear this morning. Very hard to ignore what is witnessed. Good...
Read moreIf you are Black, and not Afro-Latinx go to a different Walmart. I am so disgusted. Lied about a return policy on a simple $8 return that turned into a whole entire production and took me 45 minutes to get out of there on a food return and I had my receipt.
The first guy lies and says it is a 24hr return policy on food. I said that makes no sense I have seen that posted nowhere. I thought it was 30 days return on food with receipt. It is not like it is half eaten. These items were bad. The drink spilled in the bag, but that was the only issue. My receipt was a little too faded so they had to have me insert my card to look me up. But he found me without issue.
The kid walks away and comes back, then another girl shows up while he helps other people at Customer Service. Then she says we can only do a direct exchange for the same exact items, and I would have to go get them. At this point I am like whatever, I am just trying to hurry up and go and look and they are not in stock. Then as I am waiting I look up the policy and see that they lied. So I literally said, I just went to the Walmart site, what you told me, and what he told me is NOT the policy. Now I am pissed and I made sure to get photos of all the people in the process.
Then this older staff person shows up, taller, but maybe 60's, pretends to call security, because she didn't even press a button, and says a person is videoing staff. Which I was not. So then I yelled they lied about policy I need the store manager up here now. Then she says, I am not yelling why are you yelling? SO I respond to make sure the other person on the other side of the call can hear me, you are on the phone with someone right? She gets all flushed. Then the original guy hands her my receipt. She refunds me. Another female staff person comes up, who pretends to be a manager. Then I ask for my original receipt back that I saw this lady put in her pocket, and she then lies and says I never had a receipt. I said he gave it to you, so where is it? Then the fake manager says she needs the last 4 digits of my card to reprint the receipt. I say why, they were able to find my receipt using my card no problem. Then she says it again no, she needs the last 4 of the card. I think again this makes no sense this should be a simple reprint. But after ore back and forth, I give the info to her, and the older staff person walks behind the divider out of sight with the staff person, and then magically my original receipt manifests in the fake Manager's hand and she lies and says it was at the end of the counter. Security NEVER showed up.
I was not upset, until I found out they lied about policy and wasted my time, and then tried to pocket my receipt and lie and say I didn't have one. I did not get loud until she got on the phone and tried to punitively silence me by calling security to cover up the fact that her younger staff had lied, and then she continued to lie, instead of just copping to...
Read moreThere’s no way this place has a 4.1 star rating. 100% bot boosted rating. Let me tell you about Walmart on the lynnway. God for bid you need the customer service section for a return, money order, or whatever else their job is. I don’t even think they know what their job is. Put it this way you will stand in line and you will be waiting, and waiting. The managers will walk by notice the line is big and walk away leaving the one cashier to handle all the returns and money grams etc. The one worker will handle them very very slowly. If you’re lucky and they’re two of them, don’t be fooled one will walk off while the line is all the way out to self checkout. These are literally the “city workers” of the lynnway Walmart store. There are probably 50 workers in the building but only 2-3 are actually working. None of them are really knowledgeable about their department unless you’re going there for the eye doctor or pharmacist, which I don’t believe they deserve to be called Walmart workers that’d be insulting. So in fact no one at Walmart is knowledgeable of their department. They need a overhaul on their management and workers maybe some more English speaking workers also. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked “where can I find cotton swabs” “where is the fishing gear” and have got a response of “sorry English no good” or “sorry I don’t know fishing gear or wrench”. Maybe “English no good” is verbally “I hate or suck at my job and I’m here for a paycheck only”. Needs huge employee and management overhaul. Fire them all start over, I’d give this place negative stars if I could. Half these reviews are people who don’t go to this location a lot, wrote a review years ago or is probably Spanish speaking and got special treatment. Before anyone disregards this, I have been suffering for 2 years having to go to this Walmart almost twice a week. So yes I know this Walmart I can name every worker in the place. It is garbage...
