My husband and I came here this past Saturday for the 1st time. To be honest I was very disappointed. 1 they were not very friendly during our 1st drop off, to sale. Number 2 the auctioner was very hard to understand. Number 3 every animal there appeared to be sick. The cows had upset stomach all over the arena and were skinny. The one goat that from my seat looked healthy was not during pick up. The animals should be checked better among being sold. That was just very wrong. On top of that the animals I did sale did not go for even half what they usually do at another auction. And believe me we have sold at other auctions. We have decided not to come back here. Maybe the experience will be better for someone else...
Read moreI have been coming to Metter Livestock Market for at least 25 years. I was here again on Saturday January 18, 2025, looking for goats. I bought three very pretty nannies, two look to be pregnant, and the prices were very much in line with my expectations. Overall, my experience was outstanding! I got something to eat in the snack bar, it was good. After I was ready to go, it was a five minute wait to cash out, 15 minute wait to load out, no worries. I live in Richmond County, an hour and a half away, and worth the drive. Very friendly staff, and I will definitely be back! Thank you Lewie! Highly recommend...
Read moreGreat atmosphere, good people. Now I can't say that much for the livestock. I happen to buy 4 Plymouth Baird rock hens of which Consigner, number 43 and 44 have Already died from being sick. Isolated and treated with Antibiotic Hopefully they have not contaminated the rest of my flock. Would be nice if the consigner stepped forward and replaced or reimbursed. It would be a shot in the arm...
