El Mexicano — Restaurant in Lyons

While passing through on business we stopped in to El Mexicano, if you are going to places by how they look you will pass this one up. I can say that we thought twice but being a hole in the wall guy we gave it a shot. The staff was super friendly and everyone that helped us spoke perfect english. We got chips and salsa right off the bat and the salsa was very tasty. I ordered the gordita's and a quesadilla. I got 3 seperate meats in the gordita's, the shells were house made, fresh, hot, crispy and delicious. The quesadilla was bigger than most places, flavorful and I would have like to have a little more cheese in it but thats just me being picky. Authentic handmade corn tortillas. Amazing, fresh street tacos. Outstanding enchiladas. The salsa is spot on but when you eat there, they bring you even more salsa, a salsa verde and a hot salsa. I put both on the enchiladas and the just the salsa rojas on the tacos. The next day, the tacos are still amazing. To top off the dinner, the horchata was refreshing and great.
