One of Best Meat Shops Ever!!

I read an article not too awful long ago about this place in Macon and definitely knew I had to visit if I was ever around this way. It did not disappoint and was truly an amazing shop.

Meats -- this is like the meat version of Willy Wonka's! They have tons of smoked sausage, fresh sausage, breakfast sausage and tons of other great meat selections including ribs, steaks and pork chops. I could have easily spent hours in the store, but had to limit my purchases to Vidalia, jalapeno sausage, and hot sausage linked. I also got half a pound of pepper bacon as well, I just couldn't resist. Even though it'll be a few days before I cook them. I can promise you they're going to be good. If I lived closer, I definitely would have jumped on sausage stuffed pork chops, those look absolutely amazing.

Fresh Food Bar -- I knew they had a great selection of sausage and meats uncooked, what I didn't know is how good of quality and variety of fresh foods they have as well. They had some of their signature sausages cooked and ready for a hot dog including Vidalia, jalapeno sausage, and medium. Got a medium hot dog and it was truly fantastic! Heck I even got one and I wasn't even hungry from eating at lunch at fresh Air BBQ only minutes earlier, but couldn't pass it up. They have all peanuts (I know I'm weird but I'm just not a fan of fresh boiled peanuts, give me a peanut patch in the can every time and I throw them in the crock pot!). They have a bunch of different sides, they have chicken tenders, wings, and several other desserts. Chocolate cake was excellent.

Sauces / Groceries -- you won't find a better spot for variety and selection of rubs, bbq sauces, and anything you can want for a great barbecue.

Service -- fantastic!! At the meat counter, staff were extremely friendly, prompt, and helpful. Had several staff asked if I had been helped.

Overall -- one of my favorite places, meat or otherwise, I've been in awhile. Even if you traveling through Macon, it's worth a...

10/10, love this store and I will be back. Clean, well stocked, great prices, meat looked amazing, and I had a delicious hot ham/egg/cheese biscuit. BUT, the owners need to add signs or advertise what their store is actually for, bc it’s not clear what type of store it is unless you go inside! I have driven past this store at least 50 times, likely way more, until recently. Every time I passed it bc of their name, I thought “wow, it’s surprising there’s a store that only sells meat. Maybe it’s just full of beef jerky, steaks, and other cuts of meat?!” So I never went in bc I’m not really interested in that lol.

Well, I’m really glad I randomly decided to go in out of curiosity. There is SO much more than meat. It’s like a Buccees. I will 100% be returning here regularly.

To the owners: please advertise or make a big sign saying what your store actually is!!! I literally thought it was exclusively beef jerky/meat store until I decided to check it out. I think you would get many more customers if you advertised what your store sells. “Sausage Company” implies a meat store. Yall deserve a lot of customers bc this is a great store. Great selection of meats including sausage. Good Prices - BUT… the sausage is coarse ground and so full of fat. Gigantic tubular fat pieces throughout. I would be interested in a finer ground sausage AND a lower fat option, and I’m willing to (understandably) pay, at a higher price for better quality.

For me- I like sausage, but trying to reduce my fat intake. Jimmy Dean is definitely less fat & finer ground, but I would like to support local. SL Sausage - your sausage is great - why not offer a lower fat option, appropriately priced?

I will continue to shop here for their great selection of quality meats other than sausage, and hope to see options that are a little healthier. If a lower fat option was available I certainly missed it.
