Long story short: An amfam insurance holder turned into my vehicle a month ago. I didn't call the police or make a report since the driver followed me to a safe turn off spot so we could exchange info and not block traffic. That was my mistake. I filed a claim with this company 2 hours after being hit and the agent told me it would be my word against the other drivers since no police report was made. So the other driver disputed my claim saying that I veered into her so the agent would not approve my claim.
Amfam did not put any merit to my argument that their client was lying because their client had never filed a claim with my insurance. Nor were they interested in a receipt I had an hour after the accident proving what direction I was going which would disprove their clients claim that I hit them or the fact that I had a passenger in the car with me who saw the whole accident.
The agent I worked with from amfam was nice and professional and she was very straightforward with me from the start. Unfortunately for me the Company policy is to not investigate claims if no police report is filed, As if the police are an infallible institution that can empirically find fault in accidents they didn't see happen.
Here's what I should have done going forward: stop at the accident scene blocking traffic, Call police no matter how minor the damage, Treat the other driver as a potential criminal, invest in a dashcam. This is the world we...
Read moreAmerican family is a gamble at best. I spoke with some really kind people regarding my claim, and dealt with others not so great. In particular Sherrie the "PD Total Loss Sr. Desk Adjuster" was such a discrace to work with. Her customer service skills are truely pub par. My car had been totalled while I wasn't in it, just having it parked in front of my house between two other vehicles. I was given 6 days with a rental car in order to find a new car. I somehow managed to find a new car while working second shift full time within this incredibly short amount of time and needed some more time with the rental in order to pick up my new car. They refused multiple times and Sherrie was particularly rude and said she would leave a message for her Manager and I never heard a word from him or her after the call. I had to call my mother who was in the middle of an appointment with my father who has stage five kidney failure to drag her away from his appointment and help me drop off the rental and take me to the dealer before I had to work. Needless to say, that same day I switched car insurance after being bamboozled for five years. They don't care about you or you time. Do yourself a favor...
Read moreOn 04/13/2023, I hit a mirror of a parking Mazda car in Pleasanton Ca. I put my phone number under the windshield wiper and the owner called me. I submitted a claim and his car got repaired.
Few months later my insurance company (Geico) cancelled my insurance. Later on the other party insurance company (called American Family Insurance) asked me to pay $2,858.27 (this is the amount Geico refused to pay as they are not justifiable). American Family Insurance asked Geico to pay $7,585.99, Geico paid only $4727.72 and declined to pay the remaining amount which is $2,858.27. I called American Family Insurance and they gave me a 50% discount and asked me to pay only $1,429.14 and they told me if I did not pay I would lose the discount and I would have to pay the full amount. I called Geico and they advised me not to pay, as $7,585.99 to repair a mirror is not justifiable.
Later, I received a letter from American Family Insurance asking me to pay $1,429.14. I called them and the representative who answered me told me if I do not pay, my license will be suspended as they sent this claim to the transportation department. I...
