Kathleen's Bridal — Local services in Madison

Edit I have changed my rating to 5 stars. The owner contacted me and we talked about the issue. The problem that arose was actually because the distributer doesn't have elastic bands on any of their dresses, except this one. So this was a surprise to us all. This is a learning experience for us all. Im glad she called and we could make things right. They truly are a lovely boutique.

The ladies at Kathleen's Bridal are Southern Sweet! The specialist that helped me was welcoming attentive. I do however feel there is a lacking in knowing their product. I made an appointment to try on two specific dresses, Only 1 was available. Not a big deal, I was willing to try on any dresses they had that had the shape/style/color we were looking for. This is were Kathleen's customer service was fantastic.

It’s in the details were they are lacking in professionalism. We chose the original dress we came in for. We loved this dress! For sizing I tried on a similar dress in store as the specific dress we were ordering was not in store. The dress I tried for sizing was an unforgiving chiffon dress with a zipper. I am familiar with the lack of give with chiffon. So, ordering 2 sizes up was not a huge surprise. We have a size figured out and a color and all is great. Payment is made, contract is signed and dress is ordered.

3 days later, our color is not available.... Our dress is a two piece, simple dress with a little jacket. Well, if we want choose to have the jacket in a different color it will be an uncharge for two colors.... Crazy. The dress company does not have something I just order but you want to charge more for something I do not want.

We pick a similar color and move on, but I do feel some compensation should have been made.

The real sticker is when the dress arrives. It is nothing like the dress I tried on to get a good fit. This dress is a flowy slip dress, WITH NO ZIPPER. It actually has a small bit of elastic under the bust and a belt. This dress is HUGE, I am swimming in it. I said, if I tried on a similar dress to gauge fit, it should have been apples and apples, this is an orange. Nothing like the dress I tried. The young lady ,just looked at me and didn’t say much beside alterations can fix it…. I don’t want to pay an extra $150. For alterations for a dress that was sized wrong, and was not available in the color we loved.

So I’m off to have my dress altered. You can literally make a whole other dress out of the wasted material.

All of this, and tack on that the other Bridesmaid lives out of state. Her dress was to be mailed Monday, she was called Wednesday asking for her address (gave address 3 times) so it could be mailed out…

I DO NOT recommend going to Kathleen's Bridal if you want a wonderful experience. I called and spoke with Megan over the phone and gave 2 specific dresses with their style name and number, without hesitation, she said both of the dresses were $195.00. I asked what the deposit would be, and she said,"$110.00". I did not get a warm feeling over the phone with her, so I decided to go to the store the very next day to speak with her in person. She was assisting someone, but she did acknowledge me and came over. I explained to her that I had called the day before and she remembered who I was. I was very pleasant with her, but did not receive a pleasant feeling from her. We discussed the dresses again, I asked her what the deposit would be, and she said, "about half" then turned around within the same sentence and said 60%. I then asked her if the $195 included the taxes, Megan said no. I told her I have a total of 14 Ladies in my wedding and we were all going to order from her and would there be any type of discount, if there was a large order of dresses. She said, "No, because I would have to pay taxes on shipping the dresses here." That's not true because we would be charged shipping and taxes on the dresses. I then asked her where the dresses we had discussed were, and she pointed to the area where they were. I went to the dresses and discovered she lied about the prices of the dresses. One of the dresses I asked her about had a price tag of $174, the other dress was $168. Those are significant differences in the price she quoted me over the phone and in person. She told me as I was leaving the store that she would call me later that day to finish discussing the dresses. I never heard from her. Megan did not give a warm welcome and she clearly made me feel that she did not want my business or the 14 Ladies of my wedding party because we are Black/African American. I highly recommend Kathleen's Bridal to anyone in the Huntsville/Madison area (and further if you're willing to travel)! Loree was awesome to work with for my first appointment. This was my first ever bridal appointment, and I did not expect to find a dress, but I wanted to come for the experience at Kathleen's that I had read about in these very reviews. I found a dress I loved but could not get it due to supply issues. Long story short, they were diligent in informing me of this, offering sister styles, and then ordering those styles I liked. The next time I came in I ended up finding a dress I absolutely loved (that ended up not being one I had picked out before) and purchasing it. They made what could have been a very stressful situation for a bride very smooth and chill. The store had an amazing selection of dresses within my price range (which was more modest at around $1,000). Loree and Meighan both valued my time and never made me feel like I was a bother. They were conscious of my budget and made sure to inform me if a dress them or myself had picked out was outside of my price range and how much it was. They made me feel important as a bride and that my budget was important too, which are two big things every bride should experience in the process of shopping for a wedding dress.
