We were at the inaugural NASCAR race June 2022. We stayed at a hotel in Chesterfield driving daily to and from the track for the 3 day weekend. No problems with traffic because we knew a sold out event was going to cause traffic jams so we came early each day and got right in. We did the VIP parking behind the Wallace stands for tailgating since we knew we would be there early and all day. Only complaint there is that there was no clear directions to get to the right parking space and everyone we asked couldn't answer us. We finally just drove around, following large busses in a VIP entrance and then parked and hoped for the best. It felt like anyone could have gotten in there to park up close, which kind of upset us since we paid more for those spots and it just wasn't really marked or guarded by anyone. It was a very crowded event but we knew it would be, so we packed a cooler with our own beverages and food. We did buy from vendors and they were all very friendly and the food was great. The gals working the Margarita truck were awesome and quick! Decent prices too for a sporting event. Most food prices were what I typically pay when a food truck comes to our workplace. We bought food and drinks at unconventional times to avoid the crowds and during the race we stayed in our seats with our coolers. I highly recommend to all, to pack a cooler! I would not be happy having to miss the race because of long lines! So please continue to allow coolers. I also never had a long wait for any women's bathroom and never had to use a porta-john! Plenty of access to clean bathrooms even with a sold out crowd! I loved the after concerts because it gave us some extra fun plus we could avoid the crazy traffic leaving the track. My only complaint about them was that all the tents blocked views of the racing. We were in the Wallace stands on turn two end, first row. We could see a major portion of the track except when cars were in turn 4 up past start/finish line. For the truck race there were no screens up so we couldn't tell who won except by using our scanners. When the race is going you can't hear the loud speakers due to the engines. Thankfully a video screen was in place on Sunday. We were watching the pre-race concert on it until something happened with the power and we missed the Cole Swindell concert and driver intros. At other tracks, drivers ride around in trucks for all the fans to cheer. Since no one but those right at the start finish line got to see them, I would suggest that they do that for next year. Also maybe find a way to get rid of so many tall tents blocking views. Perhaps stages that can move like the driver intro/VL stage that is a semi truck. Overall, great 1st event especially for a sold out crowd. The race was good, the concerts, fireworks, flyover and all the midway vendors and events were great. Just a few things to tweak for next year! Thanks for a...
Read moreMISTAKES WERE MADE THAT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. There was no parking control nor was there any managing of entry/ exiting of the facility. There should have been 1 way in and 1 way out with controlled lanes guiding commuters to properly controlled parking locations. There should have been a controlled exit plan with staff controlling departure routes. There should have been an enforced pre purchase parking pass entry only for commuters with a safe reroute to an off site location to purchase a parking pass to gain entry. The biggest problem was anyone could show up and bog down the entry lanes into the facility without a parking pass then dangerously drive wherever they chose to whether they had a pass or not. There were no clear signs of where assigned parking locations were or how to get to those locations. Cars and shuttle buses were often dangerously driving in oncoming lanes of moving traffic without penalty or remorse. At one point as commuters were entering the facility and traffic did not move for more than an hour and parking attendants were no where to be found. People were seen getting out of their cars along Collinsville Rd and along the frontage rd inside the faculty and walking to the event because cars had not moved for over an hour. Before the start of the race parking spots were being made wherever they could find an empty spot causing the lanes of travel to be blocked and unsafe to maneuver for shuttle drivers. I will guarantee if they were honest they would have to admit that more than half the cars that parked at the facility did not pay for parking nor were they parked where they were designated to. I saw an emergency vehicle spend 25 minutes trying to go through oncoming traffic to exit the faculty with someone who had passed out from heat exhaustion. To say they weren’t prepared is an egregious understatement. I pray the event planned for next year isn’t so callously thrown together and there are more security measures put into place. There should be enforceable parking restrictions to the limited parking at this facility encouraging patrons to be safely shuttled in from offsite parking locations. IF THAT WERE DONE THEN THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN LANES FOR SHUTTLE BUSES TO SAFELY ENTER AND EXIT THE FACILITY IN A More expeditious manner. MISTAKES WERE MADE THAT COULD...
Read moreAttended the NASCAR races June 4-5, 2022. My rating should be only one star but I've given the raceway two stars because they truly made an effort to provide some excellent fan entertainment. Our experience on Saturday for the Camping World Truck race was fairly good because the crowd wasn't even close to full capacity. One criticism was that there was not a TV facing the stands in Turns 1 & 2 because the entire track is not visible due to a huge hospitality tent on the front stretch infield. Another criticism is that there were not enough bridges over the roadway between the track and the parking lot so we were like a huge herd of cattle trying to even get to and across the bridge. The TV issue was remedied by the race on Sunday (though it could have been larger). However, our experience on Sunday for the Cup Series races was awful due to almost full capacity attendance. There weren't enough food/beverage vendors to handle the crowd (and the vendors there weren't well-staffed) resulting in ridiculously long lines. Since there are no TVs under the Turn 1 & 2 stands, the people waiting forever in the long lines couldn't even see large portions of the race. I've attended NASCAR Cup race events at seven or more other racetracks and have never experienced this issue before. We were so upset with the situation that we left early after Stage 2 and watched our recording of the race at home. I can't even imagine what the situation with the bridges was like after the Cup race ended. Our final issue is regarding the parking lot west of the track. The lot is fine and a good location, but we prepaid for parking and a lot of people were not paying for parking or showing proof of having prepaid which should have been scanned (ours wasn't and they weren't even close enough to read it). We are also aware of some people who didn't even have to show their race tickets to get into the track and not all bags were properly checked. Unless major changes are made, we will not be returning to NASCAR Cup races at this racetrack that's only about an hour from...
