Design process was good. Designer took her time to design the closet and talk to us about the various options. Was surprised that she had to hand draw the design, she should have had a tablet to reduce the amount of time this took. Good communication with her and the company up until the install. It was explained to me at the time of order, 50% of the total amount due would be charged to our card as a deposit. I agreed to this.

Install was scheduled to be a 3 day process. First day of the process the basic structure of the closet was installed. When the installer left, I looked over the work and found that the majority of the tall vertical panels had been damaged in transit. The edge banding had been pretty badly scraped up. The installer tried to cover it up with a touch up marker that was the same color. I contacted the company that evening, sent pictures of the damage, and they agreed to remake the panels - and had them up ready to install the next day. I was impressed that they made new panels and had them up here the very next day.

The panel removal and replacement was done day two of the install.

Day 3 the installer was going to finish the drawers and install the base mouldings. At the end of the day, I went back into the closet to replace the wall moulding where needed, and found that the base moulding on the closet system was two different styles. I called the company that evening and left a message about the install error and let the designer know as well.

Monday I did not hear back from the company, Tuesday I had to call and talk to my contact there. He agreed that having two different styles of moulding was not correct and he would get it resolved. No contact from them the rest of the week. Called the next monday. My contact told me that the correct moulding had been ordered, but he didn't have an order confirmation and he would look into and get back with me. Crickets....

Called yesterday 8/18 to get a status update. Same response, no confirmation from the vendor and he would look into it and call me back in 5 minutes. I waited an hour...and yup, had to call him back. Only to find out he had no information. He agreed that he should have called me back and I shouldn't have had to call him as "thats not how he operates'.

At this point in time, my patience is done. I tell him, its clear you are ignoring this issue in hopes that I will just let it go, thats not going to happen. At this point he offers me a free shelf or accessory for the hassle. While I appreciate the offer, Im not looking for free product - I want our closet done so we can put our house back together and get the product and service that I have paid quite a bit of money for.

As they were quick to charge my card for the remaining balance before install was complete, I'm going to dispute this charge with the credit card company as they have not delivered what was agreed to and failed to provide a timely resolution.

After reading the various reviews on this location, its clear that lack of communication is standard practice for them. At this point in time, I would not do business with this company again. There are many choices for customs closets - pick a better one than this.

UPDATE: 9/16/22 - They have finally fixed the incorrect moulding and our closet is now complete. Based off our of our experience, I still recommend you look at other options for your...

UPDATE: After my review, I immediately got a call from Jake who went above and beyond to rectify our situation. He came out with a handpicked crew to survey the work and agreed it wasn't up to his standard. They more or less completely redid everything. He gave us a complimentary upgrade to shaker doors, not only to smooth things over, but because our design consultant (who was let go shortly after we worked with her) didn't tell us there were cabinet choices closer to what we already had in our home. We opted to pay for an upgrade to include crown molding and gave the new crew our exact door handle hardware that they installed, which altogether made the cabinets look more congruous with the rest of the house. The end result is absolutely beautiful and we're thrilled with our laundry room. Thank you, Jake! Not a great experience with Closets by Design. We've been in our home for nearly 8 years and decided to make some upgrades. We wanted to install closet systems in our bedrooms, and have cabinets installed in our laundry room. I scheduled 3 in-home consultations with Closets by Design, California Closets, and Inspired Closets. Quality craftsmanship and innovative ideas were the most important to us. Ultimately, we ended up hiring California Closets to do everything except our laundry room because they require you to move out your washer and dryer. Closets by Design was willing to do it if we signed a waiver that wouldn't hold them liable for damage to our machines. No problem. So, we hired Closets by Design to install cabinets and a nicer shelf in our laundry room. Waiting months in anticipation, we were excited for the crew to come today and replace our old wire rack with our new cabinets. Sadly, the craftsmanship is terrible. There are patches all over the inside of the cabinets, many left uncovered. The outside of the cabinets is lined with ugly trim that includes the cheap, circular patches. There are uneven, bubbled and poorly patched surfaces in places, and to top things off, we weren't made aware that the company offers cabinet doors that are a better match to our existing cabinetry. (The installers pointed that out.) I found myself relieved that we only contracted them to do one room, but no customer should feel that way. Now, I get to spend twice as much trying to find a contractor to come in and fix this mess if Closets by Design can't do something to...

Update: I do want to comment that the company says they have been in touch in their response to my review. They never reached out via email or phone. I believe their response is an extent to intentionally mislead people about their customer service. I had reached out several times asking when I would get a call and was told vaguely they would be reaching out. Never got follow up.

Got three closets done for over $12k. Our initial consult was great and straightforward though the install was going to take 2 days so instead of a month we had to wait 6 weeks. Shortly after the consult we had a contract review which was also straightforward. Afterwards however the office called and emailed trying to change the designs. After several back and forth they agreed to stay with our design (theirs would have removed the utility of one of our walls). Upon install we were unclear what closets they would start with so cleared everything.

The higher end Brillo closet looks quite nice but the back isn't always flush with the shelves. It was also difficult to adjust some of the structural shelves and the belt racks as some of the screws were stripped. They also forgot that we had ordered an extra shelf and rod which they then wanted another payment for, and another signed contract for. Luckily these were delivered a few days later but one shelf was the wrong length (apparently the install did a different length shelf than was in the plans). Luckily we flagged the guy down before he left the driveway and he was able to adjust the shelf. In this closet we still have been unable to change a structural shelf as it had an additional connector to the back wall (which will of course show damage when we moved it).

We got the metal rods in a matte chrome color. They scratch easily and already look scratched up from our hangars). I've used the same hangars in 5 prior closets without a scratching issue.

The worst part is the other two closets where we got a more basic finish. The team ripped out the existing shelves but then didn't do any kind of wall repair (or give us time to do it). Then the team immediately installed the shelves which is why in the pictures you see the new "custom closets" honestly looking worse than what we had prior. During the install I brought this up and immediately contacted the office. I was given the terms response and told customer service would reach out. I have not yet heard from...

December 2024 We had a fantastic experience with Closets by Design (Woodinville) from start to finish! Our guest room previously didn’t have a proper closet—it was just a simple rod in a space built in 1982, so the setup was quite outdated. The shelves were bowing under the weight, and the room had limited space to work with. Despite these challenges, Olivia Anderson, our consultant, worked with us on November 13 to design a solution that was both functional and stylish. She was professional, attentive, and made the entire process enjoyable. On December 4, Manuel and Ty arrived to install both closets - hallway and guest room. They worked efficiently, kept the space clean throughout, and transformed the guest room and hallway closets into a beautifully organized and functional space. The entire process was seamless, they took around 3 hours, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. 🙂 Cost for both was around $3800 (with tax) after the 40% discount and extra 15% discount. This was not cheap considering this is using particle board, but this includes delivery and installation. We had compared this against using real wood from Lundia, and the guest room closet materials actually cost the same at $2900! BUT… We ended up going with Closet by Design because if we went with Lundia, we would have pay an additional $300 for shipping and then another $200-400 for installation. We would also have to figure out where to store the panels and wood at our apartment complex, until the contractor arrived. Honestly, Closets by Design (Woodinville) exceeded our expectations, and we would recommend this team (Olivia, Manual, Ty) to anyone looking to upgrade their storage solutions, no matter the challenges. They serve clients to the North of Seattle 💛 Olivia had also told us the closets have lifetime warranty with the original purchaser, however, the product warranty paper we received indicated 7 years from today. We will call and clarity this shortly… and will provide an update to this review 😎
