I rarely write negative reviews, but this one is well-earned.
My daughter and I were near Maltby Produce Market today. The gate was open, and there were no signs anywhere saying it was closed, so we paused across the street debating whether to check it out.
Then, out of nowhere, an older woman stormed out and started yelling at us â loud, rude, and completely unnecessary. We hadnât even stepped onto their property yet, and she was already shouting at us to leave âimmediately.â
I said, âYou couldâve said it a little nicer.â She snapped back, âThis is the fourth time Iâve had to say it, so Iâm losing my patience.â
So⌠because she was tired of repeating herself, it somehow became acceptable to lash out at strangers? Thatâs not how decency works. And frankly, if you donât have the patience to deal with people, maybe running a public-facing business isnât for you. You canât have it both ways â wanting to sell things, but acting like people are the problem.
Honestly, if someone reacts like this to a mom and her child simply standing nearby, it makes you wonder how she treats actual visitors.
Thereâs a certain kind of bitterness that people carry when theyâve forgotten how to talk to others â or maybe never learned in the first place. And sometimes, you canât help but wonder if her reaction wouldâve been different⌠if we looked a little more like her.
Maybe sheâs not used to kindness. Or families. Or⌠basic human interaction. That would explain the hostility.
Either way, the message was loud and clear: families arenât welcome here. So donât worry â we wonât be coming back.
Update:
I completely understand the need to close at the end of the day. No issue there. But there were no cars, no signs â and no reason to shout at a mom and her kid from across the street. I also noticed another review on Malby Produce Market page describing the same woman being rude to his wife and child. That makes it clear this wasnât a one-off moment. Maybe itâs time to stop blaming âstreet noise.â Kindness doesnât require a...
