I rarely write negative reviews, but this one is well-earned.

My daughter and I were near Maltby Produce Market today. The gate was open, and there were no signs anywhere saying it was closed, so we paused across the street debating whether to check it out.

Then, out of nowhere, an older woman stormed out and started yelling at us — loud, rude, and completely unnecessary. We hadn’t even stepped onto their property yet, and she was already shouting at us to leave ā€œimmediately.ā€

I said, ā€œYou could’ve said it a little nicer.ā€ She snapped back, ā€œThis is the fourth time I’ve had to say it, so I’m losing my patience.ā€

So… because she was tired of repeating herself, it somehow became acceptable to lash out at strangers? That’s not how decency works. And frankly, if you don’t have the patience to deal with people, maybe running a public-facing business isn’t for you. You can’t have it both ways — wanting to sell things, but acting like people are the problem.

Honestly, if someone reacts like this to a mom and her child simply standing nearby, it makes you wonder how she treats actual visitors.

There’s a certain kind of bitterness that people carry when they’ve forgotten how to talk to others — or maybe never learned in the first place. And sometimes, you can’t help but wonder if her reaction would’ve been different… if we looked a little more like her.

Maybe she’s not used to kindness. Or families. Or… basic human interaction. That would explain the hostility.

Either way, the message was loud and clear: families aren’t welcome here. So don’t worry — we won’t be...

TL;DR: small local market with fresh foods. Nice small place to stop by when you visit the Pumpkin Patches around the area.

Parking: Small private parking lot.

Small market with a good handful of variety and there's nothing like farm fresh produce! It's more for those who are seeking really fresh produce or those that simply live nearby and are too far from "civilization" to go to a big name grocery store in my opinion. Personally, I wouldn't drive 1 hour to come here just for a head of lettuce and some veggies since I live far but it's a nice place to check out if you're in the area.

The animals are a cute mini attraction to just stroll by and look at in their pens. Signs posted to please not feed the animals. Check your shoes before going back in your car, some of those goat pellets go rouge on the...

Very Disappointed by the Treatment My Wife and Child Received

My wife recently visited Maltby Produce, unaware that the place had already closed gate was opened. Instead of being kindly informed, a staff member aggressively yelled at her and our child to leave — extremely rude and completely unnecessary. She was treated as if she were doing something wrong or even stealing, which was absolutely not the case.

We’ve supported this local spot before, but no customer — especially a mother with her child — should ever be spoken to in that way. It's unacceptable for anyone representing a business to behave this disrespectfully. This experience has left a very...

We couldn't believe how generous this place is: they just let you walk right in and pet the friendly goats, gawk at the peacocks, and get to know the cheerful chickens, for free! And they even gave us complimentary hot cider. The staff was kind. There's an impressive array of local produce, including mushrooms and dried spices. Prices varied from quite reasonable for apples to rather steep for other items. I wondered if $7 for a dozen eggs could be worth it, but after tasting them, I can say, unequivocally, YES! It's as if I have never actually eaten a real egg before. It was an entire experience.
