Food Center — Local services in Malvern

Basically, the store is always neat and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The butcher is great! The produce is wonderful. The rest of the store absolutely sucks!

Food Center used to be the best place to go to get groceries in Malvern. Unfortunately, that's not the case anymore. They are a great place to buy fresh packaged meats (beef, chicken, pork). They've always got great prices on those items. Plus, they package them in store and if you need something packaged a certain way (ex. 12 pork loin chops) they'll just about always help you out. They also have a wonderful produce selection!

The down sides of the store are pretty big things though. For starters, one of their best things used to be their pick 5. Now it's really a rip off. Everything on it is overpriced. Plus, it used to be pick 5/$19.99 and now it's pick 5/$24.99. The other items in the store (besides fresh packaged meats) are also almost all overpriced. There are occasionally items for the pantry that will be a good sale prices, but for the most part the store as a whole is overpriced. It also has a major downside of having a VERY limited selection when it comes to pantry and freezer items.

I will say they have a wonderful deli. They do have very good fresh fried chicken and other hot foods available if you're looking for a meal you don't have to cook. However, it's cheaper at Wal-Mart for sure (and in my opinion better). They have a decent bakery, but again, it's extremely overpriced. You pay at least twice what you would to get the same quality...

Tried and true, this place has been in business for at least forty five year's. They have competitive prices, awesome sales and extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. The man named John in the meat department always went the extra mile for me and no matter what strange meat question I asked, he answered with a smile!
