Forest Chapel at Twin Lakes is probably Mammoth's original wedding venue and it's also probably the most popular/most used. I've photographed countless weddings there and it never fails to be the quintessential California mountain ceremony site. Guests walk across a bridge (spanning Twin Lakes) and through the forest to get to the venue. The seats are tree trunks cut in half. You'll occasionally see bears wandering along the lake in the background--it's a classic spot and I love shooting there. Most people hold the ceremony there, then shuttle to either the gondola for a McCoy Station reception, or go down to Camp High Sierra or The Mill. It's a really cool set up that's proven to be one of Mammoth's go-tos for wedding couples.

Forest chapel is one of the most sought after wedding venues in Mammoth Lakes. It’s historic and has a legacy of hosting stunning weddings under its trees. Tucked away from the hiking trails, this ceremony spot is truly unique. As a local Mammoth Lakes Photographer (see Desert Paintbrush Photography), I adore photographing here!

Forest Chapel is such a beautiful spot for a wedding. I’ve photographed two here, and it’s always a memorable experience. There’s plenty of space for a medium to large wedding. It’s mostly private despite being next to a very popular lake. And it’s a blank slate—you can dress it up as much as you want! Just make sure to bring the bug spray...
