I'm surprised this SS administration Is rated as high as it is. Depending on who it is when you arrive to ask questions. Initially when I had arrived earlier, the person I had spoken with was pleasant and very informative. No problems. The next time I went, the person I was assigned to was very inconsiderate and unwilling to help with with the questions I had. Stating that if I needed help that I would have to make an appointment. And that she would not be able to help me at that time. Mind you, there was nobody else waiting there other than me at that time. So why is it that you go in, give your personal information at the kiosk, wait 15 minutes with your ticket. ( AGAIN , I was the only one there) Get called in to my assigned Government Worker. Just to be told I have to make an appointment to ask questions, a simple question ? I ended up leaving confused as to what to do. I called the local number to maybe get an answer to the question I had. It was answered by a nice lady in Marquette, WI. In less than 1 minute, she had answered my question. After explaining my situation in Manitowoc office. She had said there had been several complaints against this office. These government worker's are put in there position to help us. Not to just sit and collect a better than average paycheck in hopes that won't have to deal with a question that day. I wish I would have gotten her name that day. I would have posted it. So that others would not have to deal with her. There are good people there. She is not one of them. She makes the good worker's there look bad. Good luck to anyone looking for help there. It's a crap shoot. Hope ya get a good one to...
Read moreHave I got a good one here. My husband and I recently retired and moved to Manitowoc in August. Went down to the local DMV to get a license. Unknown to me , your SS card in this state must be in your married name, not so in Wash st. Everything else was good, my passport , my drivers license , birth certificate, Everything. So in order to get a SS card changed to your married name, you have to physically send in all your personal documents-Birth Certificate, Passport, Marriage License etc. They lost EVERYTHING.They admitted they sent all the documents to the wrong address, and neither the post office or their office has any idea where my documents are. Identity Gone. As of today, I have spent close to 300.00 getting documents replaced. They have admitted their mistake and will reimburse. Would have been so much easier if the office wasn't closed due to Federal Government Employees being afraid of Covid.. Did I mention they are 2.8 miles from my house? They were competent enough to send me my SS card..Fast forward to today 12-29-21. After waiting and spending money I don't have , was able to get a drivers license in Wisconsin after paying for certified copies from California. Ditto for the passport which is now 165.00.I truly hope that no one ever gets...
Read moreI was waiting to get my child's Social Security Card for the duration they said it would take. When we never received anything, we attempted to call the office numerous times. Of course typical government job hours means they're only open 7 hours a day when 90% of people are at work. So I was forced to call when I was at work. Every time they never picked up. An automated messaging system just tells you "no one is available" and hangs up the call. I guess they aren't smart enough to have a voicemail in place to return calls when they are already open a very short time during the week. Then of course they are only open to walk-ins by appointment. Well tell me how I'm suppose to make an appointment when no one picks up the phone. So now I'm stuck waiting for my child's social security card that may or may not be lost some where. I can't file my taxes without the SSN. I wish I could give...
