Hankey's Riverside — Local services in Manor Township

I really enjoy visiting this store because it's conveniently located near my house. Since I finish work around 7 PM, I often stop by on my way home to pick up things for my wife and young kids when needed. Occasionally, I arrive around 7:45 PM. Having worked in customer service myself, I am always mindful that the store closes at 8 PM, so I make sure to shop quickly.

However, my recent experience has compelled me to write this review. Today, I arrived at 7:45 PM to pick up items for dinner and tomorrow's lunches. While in the produce aisle searching for cilantro, the girl who appeared to be the closing manager suddenly shouted down the aisle, "Are you almost done?" Surprised, I replied, "Yes, do you know if you have any cilantro?" She rudely and angrily responded, "If we have it, it would be there”, then stormed off. I checked my phone and it was 7:57 PM. After a brief search without finding cilantro, I proceeded to the checkout.

The cashier was very friendly, but the upset manager who had shouted at me earlier was now bagging my groceries. As I placed my last item on the conveyor belt, she grabbed my basket and said abruptly, "I'll put this away." I thanked her, but she didn't respond and just scowled at me. After paying and thanking them again, I left...it was 8:00pm on the dot. By the time I reached my car, all the staff rushed out of the store like the building was on fire.

I AM A BIG FAN OF THIS STORE. I HAVE SHOPPED HERE FOR MANY,MANY YEARS. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO DO MY OWN SHOPPING I LOVED THE WARMTH OF GEORGE ANTHONY (THE OWNER) AND THE EMPLOYEES THAT NEVER FAILED TO MAKE ME ENJOY MY TIME IN THE STORE. I love this store They take great care to listen to the different items that I would like to see They take special care in making gluten free items for my grand children available. The quality is excellent The staff does an excellent job of helping you with everything you need. And the deli people are very friendly and helpful. The pricing and quality are excellent.
