I usually have a great experience at this store. Today was much different. Several items do not have price tags, so I asked an employee how much an item was. Apparently the employees have to look up price comps online on the spot before they can tell you how much an I priced item costs which is an odd business practice. She came back with an amount she would sell the item for and I agreed and continued my shopping while she packed and boxed the item for me to take home. After we finished shopping I went to the counter and paid for my items (I was not given a receipt) and as I went to grab my box of goods to leave a bald older male employee refused to hand over to me the boxed item I just paid for stating he could not let the item leave the shop. I told him I had just paid for the item and he then gave me another price figure that was six times more than I had just purchased it for. He rudely stated to the kind employee helping me “she can pay what I paid for it” and that he will not let the item leave the store. He sounded very upset with the kind employee and I felt embarrassed for her caught in the middle of the disorganized pricing system. I refused to pay his inflated price and had to ask for my cash back from the second nice helpful employee of the store.
Prices should ALWAYS be listed clearly on ALL items and employees should not be reprimanded in front of customers for charging an amount different that he thought they should because she used the “wrong app” to look up the price in front of me. The whole exchange was extremely unprofessional on the part of the male employee and unfair to the kind woman that was assisting me. It is not good business practice to skyrocket the price after the customer has paid and then refuse to allow the item to leave the store as the customer is attempting to leave. It was a disgusting interaction and I will never return. To those two kind women and young man who helped us while shopping thank you for your excellent...
Read moreFound this fun place doing an “antique store” search. It’s one of the places that gives Maple Valley it’s current charm. Most items could be classified as vintage pop culture. Fun trip to the past with the kid to a world of tin lunch boxes, Home Interior & AVON, McDonalds glasses, decorative telephones, misc other vintage toys, tons of vinyl.. this shop is a paradise for the guys with an extensive array of comics, baseball cards, Star Wars and Batman, arcades, bar signs, movie posters. Found a rare Godzilla for the hubby for Christmas.. shhhhh.. Hoping to see: more for the Ladies (they do have some Barbie, and a collection of creepy old dolls peering down at you from atop high shelves) when I return (Holly Hobbie? Cindy?), and a special place in the store for Christmas/holiday items would be convenient. Friendly staff. If you have allergies to the Old World “musk”,...
Read moreGreat spot for comic book hunting. It's totally worth making the trip to this hidden gem of an antique shop. Super well organized and arranged, this place has to be seen to be believed. I went here looking for comics and wasn't disappointed. There were tons of older Silver and Bronze age comics, as well as CGC graded comics. In fact, they had more graded comics than most comic shops do in the area. I'll definitely keep checking back as they add more comics to the shelves. Also realized they had a whole upstairs area full of figures and music gear. Don't know how this store slipped under my radar, but I'm so...
