I had a great experience at Clockwork Games when I went in to buy prerelease boxes for Magic: The Gathering. The staff was helpful, the shop was well-stocked, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and enjoyable. It is clearly a hub for the local gaming community, and it felt good to be a part of that energy.

The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the store had a bit of the stereotypical “gamer smell” that people sometimes associate with hobby shops. It is unfortunate, because everything else about the visit was excellent. Regular cleanings and maintaining that nice, fresh smell would go a long way in improving the overall atmosphere. Another idea might be for the store to provide a small selection of free toiletry or hygiene items to discreetly support any customers who might need them.

I was traveling for work and decided to stop in to Clockwork Games for a Friday night magic draft to blow off some steam and relax after my shift. The gentleman behind the counter was welcoming and friendly (even going so far as to lend a charger to one of the players), and the folks I was paired against were wonderful as well. Not only is the shop inviting and inclusive, it's clean and well lit, with adequate space and seating for their events. Unlike some other shops, the store has clean restrooms and a decent selection of food and drinks to make the long gaming sessions just that much more pleasant. Great Game shop in downtown Marysville. Clockwork Games is a clean and comfortable place to participate in the stores frequent events, or just come in with friends to play some games. The other patrons are friendly and will happily talk with curious strangers about the games they are playing.
