This place is an overpriced joke compared to WesMer. There is no organization, we were told to park 1 car in between the buckets, then late comers squeeze themselves in between. We were all good to go and then someone came and parked a few feet away from our folding chairs and never turned off their engine. I asked staff about their policies, I was told the only rule they have is no headlights, but you can keep your engine running hot next to people sitting outside.. not to mention throwing carbon monoxide in other's faces. They didn't even care about someone with their hatch open obstructing the view (I included a picture). There's flood lights all along one side of the parking lot and it makes darker scenes harder to see. Since this is in the middle of town, it never gets dark enough because of the constant hue of surrounding city lights, not just the flood lights. There should be someone guiding you how to park properly, but it's everyone out for themselves I guess, as long as they get their money, they don't care what's going on once you get in. No one walked the parking lot at all, you can't really identify who works there. 20 minutes into the first kid's movie I could smell marijuana from a few cars over. The concessions are overpriced and are next to the restrooms which are at the entrance, you'll need to go for a hike to relieve yourself. WesMer may be a bit of a drive, but I'd rather go there, it's cheaper and they actually care about your viewing experience and do not allow engines on or drugs (they have a dedicated security guard/sheriff there at all times who patrols in a golf cart). I will never come back to this place, the druggie punks can have it! My family and I will continue to give our hard earned money to...
Read moreWe have been really excited about having a Drive-In so close. However, as other reviewers have noted, the experience was suboptimal. We went on a Sunday evening and there were only about four other cars there. The screen typical size. The viewing area is a flat parking lot, so if you went on a busy night, then you would be sitting behind another vehicle and have the possiblity of a partially obstructed view since the parking mounds typically found in drive-in theaters don't exist. The biggest down side was the business with a shipping dock to the right. There are four flood lights which shine toward the drive-in. We put up towels over the car windows to darken the inside of the car which helped a little. The movie had many dark scenes which were completely washed out by these lights. The right half of the screen is partially lit for the entire movie but brighter scenes are still visible. They will need to either work with their neighbor to shut these down or construct some sort of high fence to block the light to make this...
Read moreWhen they first announced that they were going to open a drive-in in McAllen, my husband and I were thrilled. Today we came as first timers and what a disappointment. Alot of the reviews are plainly false. The projector used to project the movie is AWFUL. If the movie is a low light film, you will not be able to see anything!! It being very very new we were expecting a brighter projection than Wesmer but Wesmer surpasses it!! The greeter who charges as you enter has HORRIBLE customer service. When we pulled up he stayed quiet, my husband had to be the first to say hi and only then did the guy speak and said "it'll be $20". No hello, no welcome. He also attended us at the snack bar and again no hello, just "what do you want to order". The snacks are overpriced for the quality of the film. There's no one walking around checking the property and guests, making sure they are following movie etiquette. Horrible first experience, I truthfully had HUGE hopes but we will not be coming back, Wesmer...
