I am writing this review because our recent experience at the Hull St Location was much different than what one would come to expect. And how the store owner handled the situation was subpar IMO.
My wife bought a hutch from here and we decided to go pick it up ourselves the next day. As I was loading it up, I noticed a big hole kicked in the back of the piece that was never evident when the unit was on display, nor was it ever disclosed. When I approached the owner about it, her response was trite and very matter of fact as she recited the store policy of no exchanges or returns. We hadn’t even taken it off the property, but because my wife paid for it, the sale was final and she was not going to budge.
She didn’t even bother to share any sympathies but was providing excuses for the furniture being that way and that we should have inspected it better. Just didn’t think I needed to move a 200lb hutch that’s against a wall with all the decorative items on it to make sure it doesn’t have holes in it, instead of trusting that something like that would be disclosed. Silly me, I now know better.
Response to store owner: The issue I have is that 1) the location of the hole did not warrant it for a cord as it was behind a set of drawers, so it had been damaged and 2) the fact that this information was never disclosed and when we noticed it before the hutch was off property and the manner in which you (I’m assuming your the person who dealt with me) addressed that situation would never make us want to shop at your store. 3) lastly, the discount was because the piece had been sitting in your store for a period of time, not because it was damaged, so its misleading to say that it was already discounted because you had tried to sell it at a higher price just the week prior with the same damage on the back.
Our issue from the beginning was how you handled and apparently continue to handle the situation and that’s why I wrote this so others would also be aware when shopping at your stores. You have some interesting pieces, but your type of stores have become a dime a dozen and what sets the good ones apart is customer service. In this instance yours was way below what I would...
Read moreI've only visited the location in Short Pump but is a cute store with lots of furniture, households items, and decorations to choose from. I recently purchased a bed from them and had a mishap with one of the side rails - long story short - I would just want buyers to be aware that their beds do not come with slats so you will have to purchase those separately which is a bit of a pain within itself. I didn't ask for a refund since the mishap was partially our fault but felt that there could have been a better end solution on behalf of the store and vendor who made the bed. We were given roundabout solutions to fix the bed ourselves; the store and the vendor were not willing to help fix the issue. We ended up having to piece together one of the side rails with gorilla glue, plastic wood (which obviously does not match), and take it to a carpenter to fix it (more money and more time). I believe they have a strict no refund and all sales are final policy - just keep that in mind before making large purchases.
Update: Sellers new response when I sent video and pictures of how wobbly the bed (even with a new slat system I purchased) was to contact the aristian who made the bed. Customer service is slim to none. No one wants to take responsibility or make this right. This isn’t a side table for decorative use, it’s a bed that people sleep on and it needs to be stable and secure. It’s...
Read moreThis is an adorable little place to find some hidden treasures, but BUYER BEWARE. I went to the store and checked out a frenchy dresser ( Refinished by the owner, Chelsea Hooper.) At the time it was very well disguised with several Halloween and Fall items covering it. Top, bottom, front and sides. But we took a good look at the surface and checked that the drawers opened and closed smoothly. I look at the stores facebook page on occasion and the dresser was on sale for $600 vs the original price of $895. They "intice" you to buy over the phone " before its gone" so I did. What a HUGE mistake. Went to pick it up and the top had been damaged from all the items displayed on it. The center drawers of the long dresser have sunken down so the three drawers stacked on each side are caving into the center. The dresser should have gone to the dump as it was in no condition to be refinished to begin with. Asked the owner if she accepts returns and was advised she does not. Even offered to sell it back to the store for $250, so she could resell it and make a better profit. Still a NO. The owner , Chelsea Hooper is a young girl that doesn't quite understand business and how to keep her customers happy and maintain repeat business. She's a bit "full of herself" as well. I...
