Diner Dogsâď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸
On 10/14/22, I had the pleasure of visiting Diner Dogs in Kuna for the first time. Diner Dogs is owned and operated by Richard and Kelly Paul. They opened in April 2020. They try to stay open until the last weekend of October, weather permitting. Diner Dogs is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 AM to 3 PM. To keep track of their location and specials, like and follow them on Facebook.
I was torn between the Polish sausage and Chili Cheesy dog, but went with the Polish sausage ($7) because itâs not always on the menu and the sausage is made by Cloverdale in North Dakota, and one I havenât tried before. I got it topped with light Mayo, spicy brown mustard and grilled onions.
Wowza! I LOVED my Polish sausage!!! Everything about it was perfection, starting with the freshly baked bun from Pastry Perfection, to how beautifully dressed the sausage was, mustard and grilled onions in perfect ratio to the sausage. I salivate just thinking about it.
I wasnât planning on getting a drink, but Richard insisted I try their lemonade, on the house. I tried paying for it but he wouldnât take my money. I donât normally order lemonade because I only like it made from scratch, which most places donât serve, despite their claims. One sip of Diner Dogâs lemonade, and there was no doubt in my mind that it was real. Not only was it delicious, I would go so far as to say it was the best lemonade Iâve ever had!!!
I told Richard I was impressed they made their own chili, and asked to try a sample. I was just expecting a tiny teaspoon, but he served it up in a nice size little boat, along with his 3-Cheese Mac N Cheese. Richardâs chili is made with ancho chilies and baked. His 3-Cheese Mac N Cheese is made fresh daily. Both were outstanding!!!
I absolutely loved Diner Dogs! Canât wait to go back and try another hotdog. Aside from the Polish sausage, they use Nathanâs hotdogs. You get for free toppings. One of the most popular toppings is their house made Yum-Yum sauce. Owners Richard and Kelly Paul are the nicest people too!
Highly...
Read moreWhat a fun little diner in downtown Melba! Previously a food truck in Kuna, Diner Dogs now has a brick and mortar in Melba as of December 2023. We happened upon them after going to Wildflower Cottage (a seasonal pop-up in Melba) and we were blown away by the reasonable prices, great food, and family friendly service. They offer a variety of Nathanâs hot dogs with toppings ranging from sauerkraut, relish, onions, shredded cheese, and even chili and mac & cheese! We got a cheese dog and smash burger for this kids to share, a diner dog and a Mac & cheese dog. We also got two orders of fries which was a great about to share between 5 people. Everything was freshly made and came out hot! The Mac and cheese was great- itâs house made and very creamy. They offer it as a side as well. The hot dogs were varying sizes, the Mac dog was in a long box while the diner dog came wrapped in foil. The fries were great, especially in their fry sauce! The woman who took our order (fast casual, order at the counter) was SO friendly and accommodating. She brought us extra napkins for the kids and even (without asking) a knife to split food. The kindness and hospitality was off the charts. When in Melba, we will definitely be back...
Read moreMy wife and I frequent Diner Dogs and enjoy the food. There is nothing miraculous about it, however the food is good and the small-town atmosphere is enjoyable. There are definitely better hamburgers and hotdogs in the Treasure Valley but as I said earlier, an enjoyable drive for quick bite to eat.
I do have to say though that I hate going to any place where I have a request for a hot dog or burger, that I am paying for, and the Diner cook ( AKA self proclaimed five star Michelin chef) flat out refuses to add bacon to a hot dog, or provide a side of sauerkraut even though it is something they offer on some hot dogs on the menu. Your food is good, but the customer is always right. Your arrogance and inability to please the customer for even a simple ask like a side of sauerkraut will end up costing you customers.
Yes, my wife and I will probably find ourselves back at your door at some point down the road. Iâll just have to remember to bring my own little jar of sauerkraut or what ever other little sides I want as to not offend the master chef in...
