Tacos El Centro — Restaurant in Melba

Solid, authentic Mexican food like no place else! The staff is super friendly, but I have to give four stars because it's difficult to know what you're paying for. Everything on the menu board looks like it's $8.88, there is a bit of a language barrier and there isn't an itemized receipt to know what you've paid for. In my case, bottled water, since I have never paid for water in my life until tonight. (I believe the Health Dept requires restaurants to offer free water.) Took a Sunday drive to Melba from Meridian in our 1970 VW bus with our doggos. I have been sick all week and had major cabin fever. Saw this place and begged my man to go in and get me some tacos like the picture outside showed! OMG - the best ever! The steak was not dried out like nearly every place I’d had before. The toppings so fresh and tasty! Verde sauce - yum! I wanted to go back and get 10 more!!!!! Thank you for showing me how really good tacos should taste! Not impressed with the burritos. No carnitas on the day we visited. So, we settled for a pollo burrito and one of adobada. Very little meat in either one. Mostly Mexican rice. Very little, if any, cheese or salsa bandera/fresca. No frijoles at all. Below average size. Disappointing, in a farming community that has a significant Mexican population...
