It's fascinating that "Facebook's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together," yet they feel the need to have 20,000 of their employees work within 3 miles of each other. This has caused complete chaos in East Menlo Park, and it continues to worsen as their footprint spreads. At 5pm every night, it takes at least 25 minutes to travel over 2 miles, no matter which road you're on. The commuter buses (that they claim help to eliminate traffic) consistently block intersections, park in red zones, and cause a host of other issues. They provide numerous services to their employees free of charge that they can take advantage of during the work day, such as hair cuts, dental cleanings, car detailing, and a variety of food options. While this sounds great if you work for them, it does nothing for any of the local businesses. They suffer diminishing sales because customers they had before Facebook arrived don't willingly enter the area, and none of the Facebook employees spend any money there either. Menlo Park has bent over backwards and catered to Facebook's every whim, with absolutely no concern for the communities affected. Mark Zuckerberg needs to wake up to the damage that his monster...
