Problem: The garage door was not closing using the remote. It would start closing and then go back up. Sometimes it would close if the remote was pressed without releasing it. With the in door switch, it would close only when it was pressed until the door closed. Also, the problem was random. Occasionally, the door would close without requiring the switch to be held down. I had checked the sensors and they looked to be working.
I called Palm Garage Doors to schedule an appointment. I described the aforementioned problem. Much to my pleasant surprise they showed up within an hour of my call.
Elad and Zac were very professional and friendly. The first thing they checked were the sensors. It was misaligned due to the bracket holding the sensor.
Next, they checked the motor and said that it was working but slightly dated due to the new zoning requirement that requires a backup battery. As the motor was working I chose not to replace it.
Elad offered to do a tuneup and check the spring, the pulley, the rails, etc. As it hadn’t been serviced in a long time, I opted to get it done.
Both of them go to work right away. The rails and the chain were greased. The nuts and bolts tightened. The railings were a bit too loose for their comfort. The brackets were moved down to stabilize both railings.
The garage door was checked a few times to ensure that it was working. I tried both the remote and the in wall switch.
They accept credit cards but it comes with a service fee. I paid with an alternative mechanism online. I received the invoice and receipt via email before they left.
Overall, quite happy with the speed, communication, quality, and professionalism of Elad and Zac! No hesitation in...
Read moreIt's unusual, but I have to say, this was a good experience from the moment I called them to the completion of a new garage door installation. We had a little car vs garage door challenge the left our garage door pretty much totaled. I called a few places (it was a Sunday) and Palms Garage Doors was the first to say they would have someone come out to take a look. The technician that came was prompt, clean, kind and personable. He told me about a couple options and prepared an estimate on the spot. I got a couple estimates from other garage door companies as well. All the estimates were very close to each other That said, a couple of the techs from other companies seemed a little shady. They seemed to sort of size me up before preparing an estimate. That may have been my imagination, or maybe not. We ordered the door the following day. The office called after sending us some brochures. When we made the order the office reduced the price by $300. A nice surprise. When the door arrived 3 days later it was exactly what we ordered and the installer had the old door and hardware removed, and installed the new door and opener, tracks, and safety device complete in about 4 hours. I had to work that day and was a little worried about leaving my wife to make sure everything looked right. When I got home I found my concern was needless worry. The door, tracks and opener were install perfectly. The new door is so quiet, my dog doesn't even wake up when we come back from a dinner or date. It really is very quiet. All-in-all, Palms Garage Doors exceeded my expectations every step of the way. I would not hesitate to...
