As far as services go for clients phenomenal!!! But as for a student this place sucks!!! Which I personally feel this establishment fails to realize that the students keep the business a float, and that theyāre customers as well.Tomorrow I will be considered an alumni of the advanced manicuring program and I must say I am more than happy to be leaving. When I first enrolled I was under the impression that Brown Aveda Mentor was like one of the top Beauty institutes in Ohio! So I was super excited to attend a school with such an accreditedable reputation! Letās just say those thoughts and feelings were very short lived!!! After only being in my course for a month I realized that enrolling here was by far the worst decision I could have ever made!!! The curriculum was more so based on the āAveda Wayā opposed to state boards!!! The instructors were nice but they literally read power points word for word and that was considered to be lectures and demonstrations were only done once ( some procedures not even demonstrated). Everyday I went to class I felt like I was going to job that I hated opposed to coming to school for something I was passionate about! Instead of taking vital free time to teach us or go over problem areas the administrator would rather much offer 1/2 off Nail services to clients that were already receiving hair services!!! It wasnāt really until to the last few weeks we were provided time to practice the procedures we were half taught and that was only because business for the nail department was slow!!!! The only thing I can honestly say that I truly learned here was how to do a DAMN GOOD PEDICURE!!! which SUCKS because pedicures arenāt even on the STATE EXAMINATION!!! Bottom line I wouldnāt recommend this school to any prospective students unless they plan on working for an Aveda salon afterwards!!!! This place is a money hungry Beauty chop shop that works their student ragged!!! Enroll at your own risk!!! YOUR PAYING FOR THE NAME THATS IT...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI do not attend Brown Aveda but I can tell you that if you want a fun learning experience, this place is not it. I do not know what it is about beauty schools, but I have never heard the end of the horrors that the students have to endure while learning a PEACEFUL and relaxing service. You guys treat the students like absolute crap and have unfair treatments. The students do beautiful work and it is such a shame that they are surrounded by weak minded adults who treat them with no respect and dignity. This place is embarrassing and quite frankly needs to be shut down. The bullying from the instructors is insane, instead of showing you what you did wrong they make you feel bad for what you do, and the higher ups are no better. This establishment is so inconsistent and lame. It is so sad that a service that is meant to be beautiful and fun, turns into a horror show and your students do not even want to show up to learn because they are anxious and scared of the people that are teaching them. Although the clients do not know what goes on behind closed doors, I sure do and I can say that if you want to be in a negative childish environment with prissy girls and instructors THIS PLACE JUST MIGHT BE FOR YOU! WELCOME BACK TO BEING A TEENAGER IN HIGH SCHOOL AGAIN. What a joke I feel so sorry for every person who has gotten their certificate from here , you are finally free from the horrors of this school congrats on making it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been growing my hair out for 2+ years after my last bad haircut from Aveda and my hair was finally really long and I wanted a haircut. I showed a picture of a haircut that would go to my neck/collarbones. the student had me keep my head down the whole time, didn't even show me and ask "is this good" or "is this ok" she had me turned where I couldn't see the mirror and when she was done with my haircut she turned me so I could see the mirror. I started crying. I specifically said I didn't want a bob and my hair goes just under my ears. I was supposed to get bangs but I told them I didn't want bangs anymore. my hair is destroyed I never wanted hair this short EVER AGAIN. I will never go to aveda it took me two years to grow out my hair from the last buzz cut they gave me. also usually they give me a mirror so I can see the back of my hair and they didn't even do that... I had to see the chopped up back of my hair for myself at home. I am currently searching for hair extensions but I'm afraid they cut my hair too short even for those. I shouldn't have to be searching for hair extensions but I cannot even look at myself with the current hair I have. also they shouldn't let amateurs cut hair while THE INSTRUCTOR IS ON...
