Even though the food is usually good the customer service is terrible and they never do anything to actually make a problem right. I have been in there about 20-25 times in the last year, I had two problems, and neither time did they do anything to make it right. After what happened last week I am never going back again.
I ordered a chicken sandwich and a beef sandwich from the Lebanese style section of the menu, the chicken sandwich was fine but the beef was incredibly cold. It took several minutes to flag down the waitress [she only came by to take the order, bring the food, and bring the bill, she never came by to check on us].
About two minutes after the cold beef was taken away the waitress brought it back, it had obviously been microwaved, it was incredibly hot, the pita was soggy/sagging and falling apart [the way pita does after being microwaved] and the beef was rubbery and leathery [the way beef becomes after being microwaved].
During the checkout at the register the cashier asked how everything was, I explained in detail what had happened with the beef sandwich and all she said was, “I’m sorry to hear about that” without offering to remove it from the bill or do anything. Why even ask how my meal was if you aren’t going to do anything about it when I tell you there was a problem?
I am never going back to this place; they truly don’t care if there was a problem with your meal.
The previous time I had a problem was a piece of bone in my beef sandwich, I bit into it, realized there was a bone, and spat that piece out, the manager came by and asked if I wanted them to heat up another piece of beef to replace the one that I had to spit out, I was shocked and horrified that anybody could suggest such a stupid course of action. I explained, “I am going to be done with this sandwich by the time a single piece of beef is ready.” Seriously, that was their idea on making that problem right, heating me up a single piece of beef to replace the piece I spat out due to the bone? Seriously? Really? That was pathetic. Most places I have been to will remove an item from the menu, offer a complimentary dessert, or offer to redo a sandwich, if there is a problem like that. Offering to replace a single piece of meat is illogical because my meal will be over or the sandwich will be cold by the time the replacement piece of meat arrives.
Most of the times I have been there I have never had a problem, but the two times I have had a problem they did nothing to...
Read moreI came here on the first day of Lent. During this time, Manhattan Deli has their annual fish fry specials available where one can dine on "all you can eat" Lake Erie perch for one flat price. I did not order this personally, and decided on a Mediterranean/Lebanese sample platter of; tabouleh, hummous, falafel, and babaghanoush which came served with two servings of pita bread. As a person of Lebanese ethnicity, I am accustomed what authentic Lebanese food tastes like. The platter that I ordered at Manhattan Deli lacked critical spices and could have been served with at the very least, spiced dipping sauce. Competitors such as Aladdin's Eatery does so, which I feel compensates for how mild the food has already been modified to taste. I did enjoy my meal here, the building has a very old-time feel and my family does business with its owners. Our server was nice too, and everything was taken care of in a timely fashion. I just did not like how bland my food tasted. The tabouleh was probably my favourite part of the platter, it was the only dish that had any distinctive flavour. Prices are reasonable here as well, and one can expect to find more than enough options to choose from...
Read moreI wish I could be leaving a glowing review for this place but unfortunately there were just too many issues with a simple order.
I called in an order for beef shawarma, picked it up and got it home only to find out was chicken. Not a huge issue because I like chicken, but a disappointment nonetheless. More on the chicken in a moment.
There was no pita with my order, and I'm paying $12 dollars, I kind of expect to get all the things included in the meal.
The chicken shawarma was downright nearly inedible. Having had shawarma at other establishments, and making the seasoning at home, you get a sense for the flavor profile. This was basically clove flavored,drier-than-the-desert chicken strips.
I don't think that I will be visiting this establishment again. The food was not impressive enough to warrant the cost...what food I...
