A total waste of time and money. Brought my record player to be serviced and when I told the owner the model and that it was a older turntable, he immediately said that there wouldn't be an issue cause "we have serviced that brand before"; they even had a comparable model turntable for sale in their shop. So, at that time, I felt comfortable. He said there would be $100 bench/troubleshooting fee and that it would go towards the total of repair. A little steep for a bench fee but I agreed. So after about a month, I inquired how it was going and a tech didn't respond but rather their secretary, who didn't have a clue what was going on. She told me that they would need another $100 to proceed with their troubleshooting. I asked what they have found and after several confusing emails, she responded that they replaced something and that would most likely fix the issue. Not being able to talk to the tech didn't sit well with me and that was my first red flag. Another month and a half passes, and she calls and tells me that they can't find the parts to fix the issue and I would need to come and pick up the turntable as is. So, there ya have it. A place that takes your cash but doesn't fix the issue. They had my record player for almost 3 months and nothing.. A word of caution, before they start work on your 'rare' piece of equipment, see if doing some simple research into potential parts issues is included in the $100 bench/troubleshooting fee. This could have been avoided if they actually knew what they were doing. I am now sending it to a place and after talking to the TECH, he was perplexed when I told him the predicament I was in. The guy said, "we will be able to fix it but if we couldn't, you wouldn't have been charged a cent". The owner of spencertified needs to take a step back and not be so cocky and arrogant. I will never bring anything to this place to be fixed. No integrity, lack if transparency and dishonesty are the reasons.
Update: The ACTUAL TECH working on my turntable emailed me the SAME DAY they received the turntable stating what the issues were and cost. He also pointed out some things that spencertified did that were incorrect and they were going to fix those issues at no additional cost.
Update: Tech just emailed saying the turntable was done and all issues were fixed. They've had my turntable less than 13 WORKING DAYS and they are finished. He is going to test it out for a few more days before shipping back. He even threw in a new cartridge.
Update: This place LIES, LIES, and LIES. Even in their reply to my review. Again, this place had no idea what they were doing and were unethical. The place I sent it to FIXED their screw-up. Not only did they take my money and not fix a thing but they made the turntable worse. Again, there are plenty of place in the valley that does great work, this place isn't one of them. ...
Read moreAfter purchasing a new Pioneer Elite CD player, which could not even play one song from any of my discs, I decided to purchase a more expensive brand new Yamaha CD player for close to $400. That player would not even open the drawer to accept a disc. What the hell has happened to quality control? We are talking about old technology that was perfected decades ago. Pathetic. I happened to run across a video from Spencertified and was intrigued. I checked their website and noticed many positive reviews. I never purchase used equipment , but considering that everything new appears to be non-functional (or just plain garbage), I decided to give them a try. End result: I am very satisfied with the purchase. Spencer boxed the Sony unit assuming it would have gone through a war zone. The unit I received plays all my CD's with no problems. It may be old , but it plays like a new machine (from decades ago) . The sound is excellent and I highly recommend this company for your audio needs. Thank you Spencer. You have my trust and my...
