Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Gilbert

Previous 2 star review: This place is right across the street from my work. I started going there because I remembered that they have huge and delicious Chicken Caesar Wraps . I went inside to order and waited pretty much my entire lunch for my order. There seemed to be only one girl working and she was doing her best to handle the drive thru and the inside customers.

2nd time, I went through the drive thru, got my big chicken Caesar wrap and went on my way. Perfect. I eat half of it and save the other half for lunch the next day. That makes paying this much not so bad. I don't get super full off eating only half, but I'm trying to not eat a ton for lunch.

Fast forward to today, I pull up to the drive thru and sat for a good solid minute before I was greeted. Was told I'd get my total at the window. No problem. Gave my card and paid the $7.54 after tax for the wrap that comes with a little cup of macaroni salad (the side I picked). Upon getting handed the bag, I immediately noticed the wrap seemed small. I get back to the office hoping I am wrong and it's bigger than I think, ready to put half of it in the fridge for tomorrow. Nope, I was right the first time, the wrap is mostly tortilla and there's very little lettuce in it. I would suppose it had the correct amount of chicken though. It was very skinny and barely measured 6 inches.

Pretty disappointed . I guess I'll go back to getting a footlong from Subway for $7.82 after tax including avocado and bursting with ingredients. I get stuffed off 6" of that and it's only $3.91 per day when you split it. Even Jason's Deli is a better value for your money if you are looking for a sandwich type of item for lunch. I'm willing to pay more for something when it's really good, but there's no excuse to skimp on ingredients when it's just lettuce.

I have yet to order here but I sat at the counter the other day waiting for my spouse as he was shopping at Sears across the street. We were heading out to lunch next so I looked over the menu and watched the very busy crew. All the smoothies sound great and they were being made with great care. The employees were very courteous and extremely fast at fulfilling orders. I was very impressed as I watched them working. The restaurant is nicely decorated and spotless. The ladies room was really nice and large for a one seater. Everything would be handicap accessible. They have an app that gives you rewards for buying which is always a plus. My only concern here is seeing that the smoothie containers were only rinsed in water and turned over between each smoothie. Being some contain peanut butter and or other allergens, I would think this would be of some concern if you had a good allergy! Not once did I see one get a thorough cleaning between used which I suppose is fine as long as there are no allergies. So, should you have a good allergy please ask they wash the container thoroughly before making your smoothie, it could be a big error if not. I love the food and smoothies here. The girl who took my order was wonderful. I could tell she was stressed because it was busy. I was in around noon. The only reason I am leaving a review for 1 star is because there was an older gentleman working. He was running around frantically. I felt very upset for the other employees. No food or smoothie is worth yelling around and pushing people out of your way. I could see how hard it was for everyone else working. Work should not be so mentally stressful, especially coming from a coworker. I hope that man learns to not stress so badly. It made me uncomfortable and I am sure it had that affect on others ordering as well.
