My Horrific Experience with Carnival Cruise Line ā A Story of Neglect, Mistreatment, and Cover-Ups
I never imagined that a vacation meant for relaxation would turn into one of the most degrading and traumatic experiences of my life. What started as a simple misunderstanding of Autism escalated into blatant mistreatment, false accusations, and outright human rights violations by Carnival Cruise Line. ⢠I was denied food, water, and basic hygiene items like soap and water in my room. ⢠My phone was confiscated, cutting me off from any outside help. ⢠I was not allowed to contact the Coast Guard or police, despite requesting to do so. ⢠My partner was charged with taking care of me as if I were a child, while staff asked her what Autism even is. ⢠I was falsely documented as saying I wanted to dieāa complete lie used to justify their treatment of me. ⢠They revoked my partnerās alcohol privileges (for no reason), only to reinstate them later, which had NOTHING to do with my situation. ⢠Instead of addressing the harm they caused, they tried to cover it up with free specialty restaurant mealsāas if food could undo the damage. ⢠They pressured me to take Ambien instead of simply allowing me to walk around to wind down (something I need due to Autism). They never checked my weight, health history, or whether the drug was even appropriate for me. ⢠After all of this, they banned me from ever sailing with them again by placing me on their Do Not Sail list.
This was nothing short of a complete abuse of power, discrimination, and a cover-up. Carnival had no knowledge of Autism, made false claims about my mental state, and treated me as if I were mentally incompetent. This isnāt just about a bad vacationāthis is about mistreatment, medical negligence, and a blatant disregard for basic human rights.
I am sharing my experience so people can see how dangerous and untrained this company is when it comes to dealing with neurodivergent individuals. This should never happen to anyone else!!! I never mentioned wanting to kill myself! I know better than that! Iāve worked in mental healthā¦I know the consequences! I said I felt alone and. Ended someone to talk to and then mentioned how I want to be alive, I just needed to vent or talk! They deserve ZERO STARS!!ā š¤¬ First and last cruise! While recording the 15s video, a different security officer told me it was illegal to record. Security lied to Bahamian police in front of me, causing a full panic attack and walked away during the attack and offered no assistance. I asked a security officer why she didnāt speak up for me, because she is the one who put a phone in my room at 2:45pm on 3/1/25, and she stated āthatās my supervisor!ā Labeled as ācombativeā when asserting my rights. Staff tried to use my partner to convince to sign paperwork that I refused to sign 3x! Doctor asked my partner to be on their side to ābridge the gapsā. The escort for my partner was when she needed a tampon. They made her wait in the room for a security escort. Entire staff attempted to deflect, change the narrative and lie to me and about me. Doctor violated...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCarnival sunset: I bought this 5-day cruise because it was supposed to stop at nassau, bahamas, half moon cay and grand turk. We got some winds. They bypassed bahamas because they said itās not safe to dock. 5 day cruise and 3 āfun days at the seaā, honestly not fun at all. Then we got to half moon cay, where there is no port. So they shuttle people back and forth with boats. 2 small boats for thousands of people⦠We tried to get a number around 8:45. They said no more numbers. Wait for 11:00 for general boarding! And you have to come back by 2:45. So far this has been a sham. Information sharing is very poor. Most of the time, there is no information about where the buffet is, where the shuttle ship is leaving from or what time they hand out numbers to get on, etc. Completely unorganized. The rooms are outdated. The buffet food is nasty. The dinner is ok. Actually, the steakhouse is great! (Not free.) And the booked restaurant(free) is also good for nreakfast. It was my first cruise and Iām disappointed. You are at their mercy. Speaking of, everything is massively overpriced. 12-pack water is $17. Wifi is $35 a day if you want to stream movies. Also, if you try to work remote, forget it. I couldnāt connect. Their unlimited drink package applies to all people in the room. So if you are staying 2 in the room, it is $850. Lol! I donāt recommend carnival sunset - AT ALL. General client quality isnāt good either⦠Maybe try a different company if youāre into cruises. I personally think all inclusive resort is a better option.

In summary, I agree with other reviewers. If you donāt wanna have a terrible vacation, donāt go on a cruise with Carnival Sunset: Older ship. Rooms are dated. Showers have a shower curtain which I find disgusting. 2, I paid $17 for a 12-pack water. And if you purchase on the ship, hi speed internet is $35/day. Drink packages get charged per room per person. So itās a billion dollars for 2. You are allowed to carry on a bottle of wine. But the summary is once they have you, you are at their mercy. Food is mediocre to bad at the buffet. Sunrise restaurant is free but was ok for breakfast. Their steakhouse is pretty good actually⦠1 thing I can recommend. Also seafood corner upstairs is good if you can ever get your food. We tried 2 times. Each time we waited 40 mins in line and not a long line. Then 20 mins to get food. Some of the entertainment was ok. The stand up comedy was unbearable. We had high winds and a very rocky ship for 4 days. This also led them to rob us from 1 of the ports. They totally skipped bahamas. They take hours to disembark passengers to the shuttle ship at Half Cay Moon. We only got a few hours there. And they arrived at grand turk at 11:00 and had until 4:30 before the ship left. Couldnāt do any excursions at all. The clientele quality is low.
We couldnāt wait to get off at Miami! I strongly suggest everyone...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn the third day of our Carnival Magic cruise, we docked near Monkeyland Puerto Plata, a stop Iād been eagerly anticipating. Among the various excursions, Monkeyland Puerto Rico caught my eye. I had always been fascinated by monkeys, and this was my chance to see them up close.
Once we arrived, I wandered through the lush greenery, enchanted by the playful spider monkeys swinging from the trees. One little guy, in particular, seemed to take a liking to me. His inquisitive eyes and cheeky demeanor quickly earned him the name Randy. He clambered up my shoulder and nestled there, nibbling on a banana I offered him.
As the tour ended, I couldn't bear to part with Randy. An idea, wild and impulsive, sparked in my mind. I filled my backpack with bananas from the snack stand, creating a makeshift lure. Sure enough, Randy followed the scent and climbed inside. With a racing heart, I zipped up the bag, leaving a small gap for air, and casually strolled back towards the ship.
We reached the customs checkpoint at the dock. I did my best to act nonchalant, but as the officer unzipped my backpack for inspection, Randy seized his chance. He shot out of the bag like a bolt of lightning, scampering up the officer and bounding onto the ship before anyone could react.
Chaos ensued. Crew members chased after Randy, who evaded capture with agile grace. The officer turned to me, bewildered. āWhy would you bring a monkey onto the ship?ā he demanded.
I shrugged, trying to keep my voice steady. āRandy and I became pals. It felt natural to adopt him.ā
Despite the stern looks, they allowed me to board. The ship's crew searched high and low for Randy, but after a few days, he remained elusive. Life on the cruise returned to its leisurely pace, though I secretly hoped to catch a glimpse of my furry friend.
One evening, I sat down for dinner in the grand dining hall. The menu boasted a new dish: Spider Monkey Fruit Salad. My heart sank. Could it be? No, it was unthinkable. Yet curiosity got the better of me. I ordered the dish, dreading what I might discover.
The salad arrived, a colorful mix of tropical fruits and tender meat. I took a tentative bite. The meat was slightly overcooked, but there was a faint, unmistakable hint of bananas in its flavor. My stomach churned as realization dawned on me: Randy had loved bananas, and now, it seemed, he had become part of this meal.
As I pushed the plate away, my mind swirled with guilt and sorrow. I had brought Randy into this, and now he was gone. The cruise continued, but the joy of the journey had dimmed. Randyās spirit, once so lively and mischievous, lingered in the shadows of the ship, a bittersweet reminder of our brief,...
