My wife and I went through Terminal F via a Carnival cruise Apr 30 to May 6. Our entry progress was fast because we went through about 45 min before ship departure. The baggage screener clerk discarded my empty plastic water bottle with the explanation "no incoming plastic at all allowed on the boat". On an island stop, I saw a sign that said "no empty water bottles allow onboard Unless They Are Carnival Branded". Never mind that Carnival is selling plenty of water onboard in generic plastic bottles.
On our departure through Terminal F, the first group was released at about 7:30am. About 8:30, Carnival released EVERYONE else which caused a massive jam on the street. We tried to get a Lyft but the drivers were just driving past and/or picking up anyone. Many shot past in the third lane as the first two lanes were constantly blocked by other vehicles. We switched to a taxi and the Carnival rep required us to use the next taxi (when I asked for a smaller car) which happened to be a large van which attached a 30pct surcharge to our ride. The driver, of course, refused to quote the ride cost ("it's metered") and then drove through a business area rather than immediately getting on the highway (he ignored us while talking on the phone). Horrible experience to get out of an...
Read moreWhen checking in for a Carnival cruise even though it gives you digital boarding passes, you will need a paper copy. We were in line ready to go with our digital boarding passes and were told to get out of line and have a rep print out our boarding passes; the employee told us to come immediately back and that we wouldn't need to wait in line again. The reps printing our passes found our reservation and printed barcodes for us to check in.
We went back to the original employee in the line who let us in immediately. Once you get inside the Terminal, you have to wait to be officially checked in and have our pictures taken to attach to our sign and sail cards. Even though there were thousands of people (5,800+ cruisers with us this week), we were able to get from barcode printer, through security, and onto the boat within an hour.
The entire staff, both public and private sector were all amazing and made the check-in process so easy...
Read moreThe port workers for Miami are the rudest most infuriating people I have ever come across in 47 years! We waited in line for 3 hours, not knowing what to do. And then when we finally made it to the entrance, the workers were screaming in my face to take out our tickets. They split up a family of 8 with minor children and questioned them if they were our children like some sort of ICE agent. I think some of them get off on a power trip, or they are just unhappy people. Then our autistic daughter was humiliated for not going up the escalator, which is a trigger for her, and yelled at to go up the elevators. The yelling at people was ridiculous. We also encountered similar rude workers when we got off the boat. Carnival workers were great, but the port of Miami workers need a lesson in customer service, tolerance, compassion, and sensitivity. I will never cruise out of...
