Changing Looks Salon — Local services in Middletown

THE OWNER CHARGED ME $85 to WASH my hair!! I initially agreed for a full service of wash, condition, blow out, trim, and twist style. Although, the owner, Lorraine, was so rough when shampooing my hair I eventually changed my mind... Sis was using too much of her nails on my scalp and when I asked her to not rinse my hair with cold water, (because my hair is low porosity and I usually rinse with warm), she didn't listen to me despite nicely requesting a few times. She proceeded to detangle my hair roughly, to the point the sound of my ends breaking lead me to ask how much it was just for a wash service. She told me it would be $85, and when I asked why she stated "That's just how it is here, I wish I could do something about it." Ya'll this lady really scammed me so bad, for someone who claims to care about their customers... Chile please. A colleague recommended this salon and they claimed the owner ended up giving her a discount one time because she made her wait so long to get serviced. She also charges $25 for a loc consultation which is absurd, now that I know BASWA in HARTFORD does them for free. This is also a salon she was throwing shade at throughout my service. This is my 3rd visit to Changing Looks, but Ms. Lorraine (and her team) has been taking care of me and my family for the past 6 months. I originally visited because my family & needed a natural updo/style for my cousin’s wedding weekend and we were NOT disappointed! Special shout out to Erika who did a great job as well!
