I am really happy with our Middletown Goodwill. The employees are very friendly and I have gotten some great name brand clothing there for my preschooler, as well as many high end books and toys. The stock is low at times only because some people shop there 2-3 times a day! If there is a Goodwill sale, the floor will get cleared out fairly early. There are a lot of wonderful things there but like any Goodwill, its hit or miss depending on the day. The remodel also meant they have some really nice high end handbags (coach, kate spade, etc) in the cases. This Goodwill also gets any repackages or scrap from Target, so you can get some amazing deals on Target name brand merchandise! All the clothes are carefully organized by color and the furniture in the back is always really nice, never lasts more than 48 hours b/c the pricing is right. I recommend this Goodwill if you're a local to Middletown!!
I think the other reviewers may not be familiar with the Goodwill model. When you donate to Goodwill you donate to the entire organization. The employees there cannot afford to buy your large screen TV nor would they steal it without losing their job! They usually ship items to other higher volume stores, it wont necessarily go to the Goodwill you donate it to. It may even go to the online Goodwill auctions.
Goodwill is also not a vintage clothing store. Being that the town of MIddletown is full of new residents, you aren't going to find old vintage clothing you can resell because everyone moved her in the...
Read moreI am convinced with the other reviewer that the store is picked over before it is put on the floor. I have given this Goodwill two large screen TV's and I never saw them put out on the floor and I go almost everyday. I have given them pickup trucks loaded with stuff from my neighbor who was moving and myself and I never see any of the things I donated on the floor except the clothing.
This store and the one in Newark, DE. are the worst two stores I have ever been in. Very clean but not much too offer. These two stores has the lowest inventory compared to any Goodwill store I have ever been in. It is either picked over by the employees or they are saving the goods for someone else.
Many of the items are over priced compared to other Goodwill's. The two worst for pricing are this store and the one in...
Read moreI used to enjoy the Middletown Goodwill. I'd stop by once a week and always ended up leaving with a great deal. However, I stopped my weekly trips to the store because their prices! They had an older model 42' flat screen TV priced for $365! It looked like it was one of the first flat screens ever made. The back was not flat. It was not a brand I'd ever heard of. When I first started shopping there in 2006, that same TV would have been $25.00 at the most!
The prices have gone up 90% in the last year. I asked one of the employees why the prices changed. She replied "they felt that things were marked too low. The manager raised all the prices and we see a lot if sales declined." If they go back to their original prices I would start shopping there again. Until then, I don't bother...
