Members of my family have used Goodwin's forever so I would like to believe the following review is a reflection of the representative I worked with and not the company as a whole. I will leave my personal feelings of the rep and my analysis of his attitude out of this review and just state facts.
Mattress and frame shopped at Godwins on a Wednesday found a mattress and frame I wanted, In stock and was told the floor model is the one we are getting. That they will call and set up delivery Friday. All good and happy I paid with my debit that day and left.
Friday comes and I get a call but not the one I was expecting. The rep I had been working with tells me he can't sell me the floor model and he undercharged me and if I wanted that mattress I could come give him $300 more and wait for it to be in stock or he'd waive the delivery fee on a cheaper matress. I said no I'll be in for a refund. Sidenote I work in sales and when we sell things for less then they are worth we never call people and ask for more money we make the reps cover it because it's the reps mistake and we don't extort our customers.
I came in to get my refund, the process took way too long. The rep first apparently over refunded me by 15$ and then told me I needed to swipe my card to pay them the 15$ even though my refund had not even showed pending, which I expressed I was not comfortable with. I then ask when my refund will show up and he tells me, "instantly." Another rep over hears him and said, no it's not instantly it's at midnight. So I ask again I need to know when I will get my money back. He says midnight. I call a couple days later and am told it can take a few days.... Sure enough at the time of writing this 4 days later, my refund finally pending, and I can go get a bed elsewhere, complete waste of a week in total. The only nice and/or helpful person I interacted with the entire time was the rep I called into that told me, a few days.
I'm not saying do not do business here. You might have, or know a rep there, that is great and honest and that's wonderful. But this was my first and last time...
Read moreI recently purchased furniture from Godwins in Midland (July 2015) and the entire process has been AWFUL. I ordered it late July and since it was not a stock item they said that it would take 6-8 weeks, during that time they NEVER called me with a status on the furniture not even when it was AT THE SAGINAW WAREHOUSE! I had to call them to be informed, and then they assumed that I was going to be to pick up TWO SOFAS.
They scheduled the delivery, which that could not get me in the weekend that it was at the warehouse, so I had to wait another week and then they did not have the screws or bolts as they refer to them as to put all of our furniture together! The delivery drivers said that they would put in a service order that Saturday to get the service crew over (stated that it would likely be on MONDAY). I called AGAIN on Monday since I had not received a call from Godwins and they informed me that NO SERVICE ORDER WAS ENTERED. I then requested one, and then they came over on Friday WITHOUT THE SCREWS / BOLTS and stated that NO ONE HAD EVEN ORDERED THEM and they knew that they did not have them in stock.
I then call to complain about why the service department was even at my house if they did not plan on FIXING the problem, and they said that they needed the leg numbers to know which bolts to order. Then the manager, Sally, stated that had the service order said BOLTS instead of SCREWS then they would have had an idea of what to order, but they still didn't know the proper numbers to use. She was blaming ME for ME PUTTING IN THE SERVICE ORDER INCORRECTLY (as if it was MY job, and not the job of THEIR DELIVERY DRIVERS). I stated that I wanted them to pull the necessary bolts from a floor model and fix it TODAY, which she replied that was NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
This entire month has gone by without my sofa being fixed and absolutely no communication from Godwins on when things were going to happen. I will NEVER buy furniture from them...
Read moreTerrible! I ordered a chair that I really liked in the clearance section. They told me it would take atleast 14 weeks to get it. Ofcourse thats a long time, but I understood with Covid and all the problems that it brought to all furniture stores. I gave them money for the order to take place. I really wanted that chair so I was ok with waiting. I got new flooring and repainted the room the chair was going in. I was excited. At the 12 week mark I decided to check in and see when I could expect it. I was then told they didn't/wouldn't be ordering the chair! What?? I waited 3 MONTHS for a chair I was never gonna get?! No phone call, no nothing! Ofcourse I was angry and disappointment. I really wanted that chair! They then showed me the chairs they had that were similar to the one I ordered. The one I was interested in was $600 more than the one I ordered! I asked if they could come down a bit, considering they totally dropped the ball on my order. The salesperson said she'd ask her manager. She called me and said they would come down $300. Made it sound like they were really lowering the price to make up for their mistake. I told her I would think about it cause that was still $300 more than the chair I ordered. It was in stock, so I wouldn't have to wait another 3 months if I ordered a new one or went someplace else. A couple days later I get a Godwins 73rd anniversary brochure in the mail. I look inside and there is the chair I'm interested in..advertised at the same price they offered me! So it was no "special"deal for me after they screwed me over!! Made me wait 3 MONTHS for nothing. Anybody who DIDN'T wait 3 MONTH'S could come in and get that chair at the price they offered me!! Thats no way to do...
