I’m not sure who takes the orders, but it would be great if the same person who answers the phone also greeted customers at pickup. The person I spoke to on the phone had an upbeat, positive attitude, which I really appreciated! However, when I picked up my order, the experience was very different—the staff member who handed me my food seemed indifferent, not necessarily rude, but the contrast was noticeable. A simple “thanks for coming in” would have made a difference.
As for the pizza, I went back and forth on how to rate this place. On the plus side, it’s probably one of the best value deals for pizza around. They don’t skimp on toppings, and you really get a lot for your money. However, consistency seems to be an issue. My mom had a problem the first time she ordered, but we decided to give it a try while visiting her. Unfortunately, my calzone was so undercooked that the bottom was just raw dough (I’ve attached a picture). I know the difference between melted cheese and raw dough, and this was definitely raw. Meanwhile, my mom’s pizza from a previous order had the opposite problem—it was completely burnt.
On the bright side, I’ve heard great things about the owner, and she made things right with my mom’s order, which says a lot. Unfortunately, since we were only in town for a birthday party, we didn’t have time to go back and have our order fixed. But ideally, customers shouldn’t have to keep coming back just to get things right in the first place.
Overall, this place offers great value—tons of toppings and generous portions—but the flavor itself is just okay. It feels like they load up the pizza to compensate for something missing, maybe in the sauce or cheese. That said, if you’re local and don’t mind checking your pizza before leaving (or getting a replacement if needed), this is a great option, especially for parties. But if you’re just passing through and looking for a reliable, hassle-free pizza spot, you might want to consider...
Read moreNot the greatest experience. The owner was rude at first. Went back and forth on the phone with me about my pizzas that i ordered. 36$ with a tip. My pizza was so doughy I had to put it in the oven. He told me he would give me one pizza replacement I said okay well I'm going to be giving them a review he told me he wouldn't give me anything to replace my order if I gave them a review. Yes I called the next day but we have a busy house hold 5 kids 5 adults no time I just threw it in the oven and went about our day. Called a couple times nothing went threw. We still had the pizza barley no one ate it. We took one of the pizzas in that we rebaked and he said it looked fine but like we said before we put it in our own oven. I didn't like the fact that the older lady with blonde hair was rolling her eyes and giving us dirty looks. She is not good for the business. The owner seemed to understand and believe us but still told us thats how its supposed to be made we should order it well done. Next time. He did replace both pizzas but its like i had to state my case to them about what was wrong with it. I wasn't asking for anything free . i had my receipt and brought the pizza in and the only thing i can say is i support small businesses but i won't support this one. Yall need to listen to your customers. You guys a the scammer trying to sell someone 36$ pizza they have to cook in the oven and try to tell someone they are lying. I told pizza dude i wouldn't leave a review but then i got to thinking about nope. Hope they turn this around or they will be shut down. Soon someone will call the better business...
Read more9/18 Update: tried their regular pizza tonight wasn't to bad, but I'm definately sticking with the three stars. For one thing, it wasn't hot. Crust was cooked through but veggies were underdone and not hot. They need to up their game
A few years ago, Pizza Dude started out as Brick Oven Pizza. Brick Oven was fabulous and had the best pizza in Midland by far. Circumstances caused the owner to sell the business to the current owner who promptly change the name to the current atrocious and juvenile name.
The pizza isn't bad, but no where near as good as Brick Oven. We recently tried the "Chicago Style" pizza. For starter's, it's not really "Chicago Style", as it doesn't have nearly as much cheese as real Chicago pizza. The sauce is the real problem though, as it's way, way too sweet. If they could cut back on the amount of sugar used, it's wouldn't be too bad.
Still, probably the best pizza in Midland. But if you really want good pizza, go to Bay City where there are a couple of...
