Don't buy paint at Goodman's! The lighting is terrible and it seems to be a big deal to open the door. The paint match scanner is defective. There are 3 large lights over the counter that aren't flourescent that should be turned on to help customers and clerks see the true color after matching. The color I had matched looked like the right color in their poor light , but when I brought it home, it's 3 shades lighter even in a dark corner. On top of that, the man behind the counter, a long-time employee, was less than helpful and very unfriendly borderline rude. As if he doesn't realize how important matching a color is in terms of touch-ups and painting adjacent walls. Adding insult to injury, when I asked about the Ben Moore sale sign posted out front, instead of checking the computer or flyers, the clerk had to call the paint guy all the way over to her desk to tell her if there was a sale. After waiting 5 minutes for him, I gave up in frustration and paid full price. I intend to lodge my complaint with management.
11/4: The owner responded promptly referring this to the manager of Goodman's over a week ago but I have heard nothing!
11/7: Goodman's manager, Martin, called and gave me a credit directly to my account for one gallon because I needed to get the paint job started. It turns out, 2 of the gallons were the correct color. I happened to open the only can of the 3 that was the wrong color. Imagine my surprise after my painter did 2 ceilings and, when we opened the other cans, they were the color I wanted but not the color that I'd spent money use. Not to mention all the hours I spent painting the walls myself with the wrong color! PS: I went to Home Depot where I got the correct color for half the price - 20 bucks per gallon for...
   Read moreYesterday, Saturday on May 31 around mid-afternoon, I stopped by to pick up a product called 'Clorox Toilet bowl cleaner.' A staff person had called me to let me know my order had arrived and could be picked up at any time.
When I got there, I stopped at the front of store and spoke to a woman, who worked at the counter where items could be picked up alphabetically according to my name or the product name.....I told her what I needed and gave her my information. She became very agitated once she could not find the item...and told me to look elsewhere...she sent me to the wrong aisle. When I came back she started to argue with me, and certainly was ' looking to pick a fight with me.' A store manager was called and told me it was at 'will call' and said he would get it for me. He told me to wait there....but I did not to wait any longer in close proximity with this angry, bitter woman.
I moved away from her, and waited for him to retrieve the item and left the store after I had my purchase.
Even though I live in Tiburon...I have decided to support the other Marin Ace Hardware stores and do my shopping there......as most of the cashiers at your store are very 'surly' and 'unwelcoming'. I have noticed this in the past....not a good look for your store, as other Ace Hardware stores in Marin seem to have no problem providing good customer service when you check out.
Also, you should be aware, these stores have also heard about the challenges I have just described at Goodman 's.
I hope you will remedy this issue as most of your other staff members seem to be very professional and helpful.

We wanted to return an Air cooler within 5 days (unused) that we bought and even discussed that we might return it if itâs small for the space, and they ensured that we have 30 days. The moment I walked in with the return, everyone started being aggressive and started accusing us indirectly that people buy and use it and then return it . That was said at-least three times, and while one of the employees was trying to help (Fransisco), the other employee interrupted and was equally aggressive commenting âI told the girl who bought it that this is not returnable (total lie) and proceeded to tell other employers that its Friday and not to argue and implying we are lying. It is not just disgraceful but really shows the environment the leadership is endorsing and supporting. Congratulations for losing a loyal customer, and I hope other people donât experience the same harassment just because they want to return something that didnât work...
