During check-in for our one-night stay, we inquired about the availability of a room for the following night in case we decided to extend our stay. We were informed there was only one two-bed room left and were advised to make a prompt decision. After settling into our room, we found that only one of the two keys provided worked. Within ten minutes, we decided to stay an additional night. Returning downstairs, we informed the same staff member who had checked us in moments earlier of our decision. They rekeyed both cards for two nights and confirmed if our credit card on file could be charged for the additional night, to which we agreed.
The next day, we left for our planned day of exploring Muir Redwoods. We returned to the hotel room after a few hours out. Around 5pm, we received a serious call from the front desk asking us to come down. Confused, I asked for the reason and was informed that checkout was at 11am and we hadn't vacated the room. Meeting the staff, I sensed they viewed me suspiciously, as though I had done something wrong. I explained our conversation from the previous day about extending our stay, but they seemed unconvinced, claiming there was no record of our extension. Mentioning the rekeyed keys for two nights helped bolster my case. Once again, I agreed to charge the additional night to our card and this time was asked to sign accordingly.
During checkout the next morning, the staff member who had checked us in initially wore a disapproving expression when I handed over our keys for the last night. I asked if she recalled our earlier discussion about extending our stay, but she didn't seem to remember. Once more, I authorized payment for the second night and signed the bill.
The entire ordeal left me feeling unjustly accused and unwelcome, with only a brief apology offered in response. Despite having stayed at this hotel twice within thirteen months, I doubt I'll return due to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am slightly hesitant to leave this review because I do not want others to know just how amazing this hotel is.
Rooms: The body wash, soap and other amenities were high caliber. The beds were comfortable. We ended up staying an extra night because of how exhausted we were from travelling and how much their hotel made us feel comfortable and relaxed during this tragic pandemic.
Cleanliness: Clean beyond measure. This hotel would make an OCD person feel relaxed. We always bring Clorox wipes, isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle to clean hotels before we stay. (Pre-COVID) and now it's is needed more than ever. I wiped and wiped, and nothing. I've NEVER experienced that before. My wife was impressed and she is NEVER impressed with hotel's cleaning skills (or anything for that matter xD).
Staff: Zen and Will were the paragon of customer service. Always asking what we need. They provided gift bags with cookies and brownies in them for my kids. We had had a cancellation on a previous hotel and late at night we were accomodated.
Lydia was so sweet and hard-working. She and her colleagues worked hard and it showed. I wish I could make up an excuse to visit the area again just so I could stay there again. My family and I have fond memories of because of this hotel.
Breakfast was the best out of all the hotels we stayed at on our trip. Vanilla Belgian waffles, fresh fruit and oatmeal, among other items. They had delicious alkaline water that all of us loved and we're always pre-chilled.
During these hard times, their superb customer service, hard work, friendliness, and hospitality made me feel like I knew them and was welcomed. I've never felt as relaxed and welcomed anywhere else I have stayed in my life.
Every hotel should strive to be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently stayed two nights at Acqua Hotel in Mill Valley for my friendās 40th birthday, and I can honestly say the service was some of the best Iāve experienced. The staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely accommodating. They went out of their way to make our celebration special.
One of the highlights for me was how they handled a last-minute request. I had planned to gift my friend a yoga and sound bath session, but the wind outside was intense. Without hesitation, the team quickly pulled together to let us use an indoor space, something they absolutely didnāt have to do, but did with so much kindness. It made all the difference.
I didnāt catch everyoneās name (I wish I had, because they were all so great), but I want to give a special shoutout to Phron, Pedro, Margey, and Jeremy for being especially helpful and welcoming.
The hotel itself was also such a gem: a full breakfast was included with our stay, and each evening they offered complimentary wine and cheese (plus delicious cookies!). The room and common areas were very clean, which is always a top priority for me.
Another unexpected treat was the location. Itās just outside the bustle of San Francisco, so you get the peaceful vibe of Mill Valley, while still being close enough for easy day trips into the city. There are beautiful hiking trails nearby too. I donāt normally hike, but I really enjoyed the Mount Tamalpais trail with its breathtaking views. Bonus: it was even wheelchair accessible.
Iād absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Acqua Hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing, friendly, and well-located place to stay just outside SF. Thank...
