Usually we like coming to Aldi but this last experience (and many before it) reminded me of time spent in jail.
I have come to this Aldi many times between 7-8pm (I work nights so this is when I usually am awake to come shop) and while I'm reluctantly familiar with their nightly practice of applying extreme pressure to customers that gradually increases as the clock approaches 8, I have NEVER seen it this bad.
I arrived at around 7:35pm with a short list, cruised down the first aisle past produce/bread, and by the time I got to dairy in the left back corner (approx. 100 feet and I did not stop to pick up anything) I had heard over the intercom *2 separate times: "Attention!!! We are closing in [x] minutes please make your way to the checkout now!"
Cut to 10 minutes later: approx. 7:45pm I had rounded through 2 more aisles and was now at the back right corner by the cheese. the 4th or 5th intercom announcement was getting more aggressive and had just finished. Before I could even begin to set my mind on shopping again, a woman who I presume to be the manager burst from the backroom door to my left and storms past me toward the front, and I'm not kidding literally yelling as loud as she could through cupped hands: another (paraphrased) "Attention!! All registers WILL BE closing at 8:00, so all shoppers to the registers now to check out"
This time I got maybe 30 seconds until another guy pushing a broom in the center aisle hollers back "WE ARE CLOSING IN 10 MINUTES!"
then the intercom again: ATTENTION SHOPPERS PLEASE GTFO!!! (essentially)
I was so flustered by the LITERAL NONSTOP harassment by staff that I actually probably took longer to shop than I otherwise would have, and once I got to the checkout I was searching through my bag for the right card when the manager woman comes chanting past me once again (heading toward the front door) with another LOUD and AGGRESSIVE reminder that they will be closing in 5 minutes, so I ended up charging the wrong card due to the immense pressure and hostility from staff (later found it was literally right in the front pocket).
Upon exiting, the Corrections Officer--I mean, the manager was standing by the front door, which was off so I had to be let out of the sallyport--I mean vestibule/entryway. She was explaining over my head to the security guard "..because then this way new ones can't come in but people leaving can get out..."
She hand-opened the door and gave me a contemptuous "Thanks have a nice night" while I passed through it and it was immediately shut behind me. As if I wanted to go back in there any time soon. I probably just as quickly grabbed my bag and got out of there as when I've been released from jail.
Anyway, terrible experience disgusting customer service get a new night manager like the customers shouldn't be made to feel like germs during a covid...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNov. 2024- Sadly, I am changing my 5 stars to 3 stars, the last couple times my husband and I went to this Aldi's this one particular check out person is so extremely rude and for no apparent reason - I find this happening more and more at the stores in this 2 mile radius! I'm going to these businesses to spend my hard earned money, which pays the employees' paychecks. I'm being nice and cordial, the least the employees could do would be to treat the customer cordial in return, not be out right nasty! (Previous post) Aldi's prices are much better than other grocery stores in the area. Most of what we buy is at least $1 and up to several dollars under the other stores' prices per item. They have a pretty good selection, they even have household goods, some clothing and even outdoor items. The cashiers are excellent, they can go thru a cart piled high with goods in just a minute or two without making any mistakes. The people who work here are friendly and helpful. There's plenty of free parking in the parking lot outside. If you want to use a cart bring a quarter along to unlock one,.. otherwise you can take and use the empty boxes that their items came in that you see as you go thru the store, and most are a nice handy size, or you can buy different kinds of bags there or you can bring your own. I don't know if all locations are like this, but this one is. Aldi's is now our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAmazing aldi, this is my favorite one by far. This store is always so clean and the staff is always so friendly. The shelves are always very well stocked, and they had a great selection of many products. I love the self checkouts too, this is the only Aldi I have personally visited that has them. This makes it very easy to get in and out quick if you only have a few items, which other Aldi stores do not do. I went in today with a big list of groceries, I was able to find everything very quickly and get in and out within 30 minutes. I love the seasonal items that they have as well, every time that I go in it is a mystery in a good way. Not a specific issue to the store, but the US Aldiās do lack some specific seasonal items that Aldiās overseas do get though. I donāt get to the store as much as I would like to, but next time Iām in the area I will definitely be visiting again....
