My friend and I were the first to scale the silos as kids, back in the early 90’s. The first time, I was 10 years old and my friend was 5. I had to lift my friend up to reach the lightning rod cable, to shimmy across to the bottom rung of the iron ladder, because the ladder had been cut off at the bottom, presumably, to keep people from using it. When we got to the top it was so scary and we loved it. No railings and no parents.
We were really disappointed when we initially couldn’t get the metal door open at the top of the silos. Together we were able to pull it open, but it made a massive, loud banging noise, and we immediately fled back down the ladder as fast as we could and ran, because parts of the mill at that time, still had people working in it. When we came back, we climbed through all sorts of different areas of the mill and we could hear people talking on the different levels, where the lights were on. We snuck around but mostly just loved the view from the top of the silos, and explored that area, because it was closed and not likely to get us caught. Back then, the mill still had power, a few lit lightbulbs, all the machinery, and giant rats the size of cats that survived off of the old grain that was strewn about nearly everywhere inside the silo building on top.
We never did any graffiti, but about a year later, we noticed evidence that other kids had discovered our secret place.

Best way to get away would probably be through the woods, towards the houses nearby, once your there, a road is right up the hill which can act as a quick escape assuming you have...
Read moreI really enjoyed finding an alternative route in and out of this abandoned complex, which in turn, gave me more hands on experience for scaling up a wall, at night, having to walk across a platform that separates the two buildings, is falling apart literally, with holes that are everywhere, you have to watch your step. I do not endorse any illegal activity, and I also won't know anything about anything. Plain and simple. And yes I was the one who added this to...
