I've been coming to Utepils since it opened in 2017. I have never had an issue with customer service. This evening, I went to the counter to order and started by asking the employee "how are you doing tonight?". Keep in mind, there was no one else waiting to order, they were not busy. This employee's reaction was to stare at me in a hostile way and reply "....What do you need". The tone was disrespectful and dismissive. I replied with "What do I need?" in an annoyed way and walked away. I did not want to deal with his attitude and shouldn't have to with so many employees. No other words were exchanged as I walked away. I attempted to order from another employee that was working the other side of the bar. This same individual stopped what he was doing at the register, then walked directly over to me in an aggressive way and cut me off. He kept saying "what do you need" over and over to try and start the same altercation. He was at the point of yelling in front of the entire building. No doubt making people uncomfortable. He told me I had to order with him, or no one. I pushed back on that and he immediately jumped to how he was going to eject me from the brewery. Keep in mind, this is just some normal employee working the bar, not the manager (or owner). I walked away again and went outside when I realized this exchange was going nowhere. If the manager was there and seeing this, they should have stepped in immediately. After about 20 minutes, I returned to the outside window to ask to speak with a manager. The same individual came directly to the window and confronted me again. He ignored my request to speak with management and continued to try and intimidate me to do things his way. Finally, after a back and forth, he walked over to the manager, turns around (immediately) and tells me "they are too busy to speak with you". I asked for an apology and the response was "I did nothing wrong, so I will not apologize". This is the worst customer service experience I've had in Minneapolis. I understand people have bad days, but this was on a different level of disrespect / childishness. His behavior was completely unacceptable and so was management's response. If someone caught me speaking to a customer this way at my place of business, I would be terminated immediately. Utepils needs to retrain this individual and whoever is in charge of them. If you can't control your employee, deescalate a problem, or talk to a customer one on one about a complaint: then you're in the...

Generic northern/western Europe atmosphere. Corporate feel. Uncomfortable seats. Several varieties of beer, but not many options in any given category (one dark beer, one IPA). Accessible entrance but difficult environment to navigate. No evident gender neutral restrooms. Clean environment. No cell service. Posted WiFi password incorrect. Seating seems like it could be arranged more effectively. Bland artwork. Fair prices for beer ($5 for pint). Multiple size options (short, pint, 64oz). Overall feels like this place is trying to hard and missing the mark. Inauthentic kitschy Euro theme, seemingly designed by someone who has never left the country and conflates Norway (establishment is named in Norwegian) with Germany (German beer and Octoberfest decorations). Pros: relatively prompt service, frequent food truck stop, likely at least one kind of acceptable beer optionfor everyone, non-alcoholic options (including kombucha), modest parking lot with plenty of nearby street parking, adequate seating for an average Friday night, adequate number of restroom stalls for capacity, clean, activities like cribbage and yoga, water station, up-to-date information regarding events and food trucks on website, good (but not exceptional) beer quality, and a patio on the water- a surprisingly rare feature in our city of lakes. Cons: uninspired atmosphere, Jack-of-all-trades beer selection leaves mastery to be desired, physically uncomfortable environment, difficult for wheelchair users to navigate environment and order drinks, corporate feel, seemingly thoughtless spatial arrangement, medium sized tables are too large to move together yet too small for larger groups, lack of accommodation of gender diversity and parents accompanying opposite gender children.

TL;DR- Worth a visit with a group of 4-10 people with diverse beer preferences Relatively accessible for ability diverse but possibly uncomfortable for gender diverse. Not a good date place unless you're open to sharing a table with strangers. Good place for meeting new people, especially during activities. Not a good place for celebrating birthdays with more than ten unless you are ok splitting...

This place was high on my list of places to visit while in Minneapolis. With a name like that, any Norwegian would be curiousšŸ˜„ And I was not dissapointed. The location is spacious, with plenty of indoor seating, bar seating (including a small stage for live music), and a beautiful backyard area with lots of seating, including some cozy chairs facing the river.

It was absolutely lovely sitting there in the sun, enjoying a utepils!

There’s a large bar with a wide variety of beers on tap, as well as hard seltzers and non-alcoholic options. The brewery offers a great range of beer styles, including several German-style brews, which was a fun and refreshing change. It’s nice to visit a brewery where the selection isn’t dominated by just one trendy style.

You can also get beer flights here, and this place has one of the coolest flight presentations I’ve seen: a pair of half-skis holding five beers each.

My favorite was the Hoppestokk, a 5.6% ABV lager — but honestly, all the beers were tasty and well made!

There’s a solid selection of beers to-go, plus some great merch including glassware, T-shirts, and more. I picked up a cool T-shirt and a few stickers.

While the brewery might seem to be a bit outside downtown, it’s easily accessible by bus plus a short walk. I’d highly recommend a visit to...

The neighborhood has been awaiting the opening of this brewery for some time now and it did not disappoint. It's much larger than i had anticipated and in a good way. The design / atmosphere is really terrific and I highly suggest you go at a time before the sun sets as the late afternoon light is outstanding and, mixed with a quaint strung-bulb lighting strategy, gives the space a nice beer garden quality while still being indoors. There will also be a nice outdoor space in the near future. Without gushing, I'd have to say that this might be my favorite IPA in town...I know people's taste in IPAS run the gamut so I'll just say it has a clean, clear, bright taste that is not overly hoppy and finishes without a strong aftertaste. It weighs in at 6.5%. They also have a hefeweissen and a kolsch. I am not a kolsch fan but people that are said it tasted nice. I did not try the hefe but may today. I'm really glad to see this place open, I think you will enjoy it. Also, while there, order a pizza from Bryn Mawr Pizza and Deli and have it delivered to Utepils. What could be better? Enjoy!

I just love this place. Probably my favorite brewery in Minneapolis. Traditional European style brewing and hops. I love the woodwork at the bar if you choose to sit there. The beer tenders are always kind. Prices are fair. Flights are available at sets of 5. Merch prices are also fair. I've collected cups and shirts for a while now. Artwork is unique as well. Food isn't served here but you can bring in your own and food trucks tend to come in the afternoons. You can buy cheese curds and pretzels as snacking food. There's an outdoor patio where dogs are welcome. It has a fire pit and tented seating with benches and tables. The inside has a billiard table. All the equipment used for brewing can be seen as well. Several events happen here since the brewery is so large. I didn't play trivia but it was happening. I've had everything on the menu that isn't an IPA. Stop in. You'll enjoy it.
