Update after 3 months: Just removed a dead sod and paved the yard instead. Looking at how that was done, I am a bit disappointed with Todd and the border he did. My border has two parts: a vertical square paver and right next to it the same horizontal one. Todd and his guys made a trench to insert vertical pavers, but they just laid the horizontal one on the ground without any prep work. No sand or crush gravel. My yard also has a rounded corner, and they didn't have an equipment to cut the pavers to manage this turn. They didn't even laid a horizontal pavers where a sprinkler came close to the vertical paver. They guys who just paved my yard, put a lot of sand into this border, but it also turned out that these pavers are not straight flat, so the water will be pooling a bit in some places. So while a trench for vertical is nice, I could've put horizontal one simply on the ground myself (which I did in another part of the garden). I needed professionals to do the job thoroughly.
Update after 2 months: Several plants and shrubs died because they need much more light than my yard has. I planted some other plants instead that are doing great in a shade and experimenting on a few others. Also the sod has died completely. Other landscaping guys said that the shade is too dense here and the water drainage is too bad for the sod. I would've expected Todd to know and/or test for it before planting, because that's the point of hiring a professional instead of doing it yourself. I would've paved they yard right from the beginning, instead of paying additionally to remove the sod now. In summary, the work/labor itself Todd and his guys are doing is amazing, but I expected more knowledge and professionalism about the location to properly select plants and advise me on a sod.
Todd did a great job redesigning my small front yard. He removed a few plants, took care of the existing ones, and planted a few bushes and plants along with the sod. He also installed a stone border around the flower bed. The work he's done is amazing! I didn't recognize my yard after the work was done, and I'm so happy with it! One piece of advise, if I had to do it all over again, I would pre-order the stones that I want. I'm a bit specific with what I want. And Todd went to Lowes the day before the installation and pick up whatever was available there (we spoke on the phone and I chose from three stones they had). It ended up looking great, but if I knew, I would've pre-ordered the stones from HomeDepot or Lowes, they have much better selection online. Other than that, we'll see how the plants hold up in my yard, as it's more on a shady side with plants' needs more on a sunny side. We'll see. At the moment I'm very happy with the job done and can't stop enjoying my yard! Go out a few times a day just...
Read moreWe had the absolute worst experience with Todd. We hired him to revamp our landscaping after Harvey. I had a very specific request on what type of roses I wanted. The roses that were there were knock outs and never seemed to do well. We did have drift roses that were doing fantastic! We planted them in 2012 and were still going strong and so beautiful. So I wanted more of those to match. Install day came and he said he was having trouble locating them but not to worry. They next day he showed up with coral roses. I was busy and didnât pay attention to what type they were. It wasnât until about three weeks later I noticed that those roses were not drift roses. I called Todd to ask him to come take a look. He did. He stated he may have picked up the wrong ones. Months went by and he still had replaced them. By then he had decided that they were in fact drift roses because his nursery didnât sell coral knock outs. I kept emailing him for about ten months. He finally agreed to send me a refund. He had planted six knock outs. I received a check for $80.00. I couldnât even replace them for that price plus go out and buy them and them do the labor of replanting them myself. Which I had already paid him to do. I paid him over $5k and all he could come up with was $80.00. Which was also to include two plants that had died. I felt this was very unfair. At the Garden Center they are $19.99 each. The only reason we hired him in the first place is because my husband was going through chemo and was to sick to help me. We were going to the medical center everyday. So this ordeal was just another stressor on my plate. Oh and by the way, after he sent me the check, that I never cashed, he blocked my number so I couldnât text or call him anymore. So professional!
In my opinion, if youâre looking for an honest landscaper keep looking. Todd is not one to keep his customers best...
Read moreMy wife told me it would take almost three months for this guy to come by and give the estimate, that was our first red flag. The estimate he promised in 48hours after we met and paid $250 for, my wife had to bug him for days to get the estimate. Before we let him do the whole property, we wanted to see his work just in the back yard. Prior to starting, I walked him to the work area and asked to please be careful of the irrigation pipes and wiring. Not only was his work very sub standard, 1/2 inch of mulch, root balls above grade, larger plants choking out and killing smaller plants right beside them; but he cut my irrigation lines. To add insult to injury, he hung the cut lines on my fence and said it was like that when he started. The company does not respond to my phone calls, my texts or my emails. The bill to fix the irrigation was $375, I asked him to pay it and I would not post a bad review, naturally I never heard back. Let that sink in folks and do not hire this fraudulent garden company. This picture is my irrigation wire left hanging on my fence, the only text I got during this ordeal was him saying it was like that when he got there, then he said he showed it to my wife which she denies. So not only did he damage the irrigation, he brought my wife into this and lied about their...
