This place is chaotic and pretty big, but it's packed to the brim with interesting products. Thai green tea, bulk tobiko, black sesame dessert paste, home goods, produce, snacks - more snacks than the brain can register in one trip. There are also many Japanese and Korean products.
There's a lady who works here, I think she's the owner, and she looks like a famous Vietnamese singer. Nice lady.
As for out of date products, yes, I admit that I did spot a few (nothing egregious, but maybe past due by a few months), and I even knowingly bought one. They carry many products here, and I know it must be hard to sell everything before the suggested dates. It's not reasonable to expect a small business carrying thousands of SKUs to be able to turn over all their products in a timely manner. Personally, I don't mind because I know they're mostly "suggestions" when it comes to shelf-stable goods, and I buy them to use them quickly. Use common sense, always check, and if it matters to you, bring it up to the staff or just don't buy it. If it's something dry, sealed, and maybe past freshness by a few months, you'll be fine. I enjoyed my visit and...
Read moreI absolutely loved the selections. Comparable to korean markets and oriental shops I've been to in Atlanta Ga and Jacksonville FL. The only thing they are missing is korean alcohol like Makgeolli which I've only found in Jacksonville or Atlanta. They have selections for individual items or prices for cases for most everything. I was looking for a very specific korean dipping sauce, ssamjang and they were happy to order some for me. When I went they had just opened and I was getting ready to go on a trip and told me they were just getting a shipment of korean items as they still hasn't fully stocked the shelves. The Japanese and Chinese selections were amazing as were everything else they offer! The meat selections were very nice as well! I very much enjoyed the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff and can't wait to come back later this week now that we are back home. If your in Mobile I highly recommend checking them out. They also played beautiful music throughout the...
Read moreThis is my favorite market in Mobile. I am a Vietnamese woman moved in from New Orleans , LA and I've been feeling disconnected from my family and big Viet community back in New Orleans since I've moved. The products here are so plentiful and the staff is always so kind. They even gave out red envelopes to customers on Lunar New year and wore their ao dai ( traditional clothing). It makes me feel so happy to be there and I will continue to support this local business. P.s. They have an amazing beverage selection and all of the noodles you can imagine to make great food...
