Today, we visited the Menards store #3178 in Bay City, MI to purchase two shower doors. I went down the aisle and asked the associate, Jasmine, if she could help find the doors. She was holding her stomach as if she were sick and barely responded to us at all even after several attempts to engage her. She merely followed us around until my wife had to tell her we didn't need her to stand there and not help. We then went and found two associates pushing a cart of PVC pipe; one was an older man named Steven. I asked him if he could help and he literally yelled at me twice, saying "GET OVER THERE!" meaning to get out of his way with the cart. I ignored it and stepped aside until he finally asked what I wanted. I asked if the doors had everything we needed and he responded with, "It says COMPLETE! That's what COMPLETE means!" and continued to be rude and condescending. He also said, "You need to go get a rail cart" while he stood there. In the meantime, my wife went to find plumber's putty and she stopped an associate named Nick who promptly looked at her, said "This isn't my department" and turned and walked away from her. The ironic part is he was standing right in front of the very bay in which the plumber's putty was located; I later saw him nonchalantly walking through the store pushing a shopping cart with two items in it not doing anything. We drove to this store from Midland, MI since we don't have a Menards and it is the LAST time we will ever go back. I reported these associates actions to the manager on duty, Gage, who seemed interested, but didn't state whether he'd do anything about them. So, at that point, I told him I'd leave it in his hands and left. The horrendous customer service at that store was shocking but apparently to be expected after talking with numerous family members who've been there and all vowed never to return. Wholesale changes need to be made within this store if that is the example that upper management is allowing to exist as a culture. Just...
Read moreWow, am I ever impressed! What a great staff. Jose in tile helped me select tile, grout, and supplies for my bath project. Very complicated sale with lots of input from him to help this novice try to figure it all out. I think we probably spent and hour and a half comparing tiles and grouts. Thanks Jose! Had so much tile that I got tons of help from Jacob hauling it to the front register and loading it in my car. Could not have been friendlier. Holli at the register was full of smiles and laughter as she plowed through my huge pile of various tile and supplies. Even though she managed to fleece me for more than $700.00, Holli made it seem like fun. Lastly, thanks to the young red haired girl at customer service. Wish I got her name but she pulled it all together for me by finding Jacob to help me out. Again with the smiles. We don't usually see this kind of extraordinary customer service at the big-box stores. I don't know if it's the leadership at Menards or the basic nature of Bay City people, but thanks for the experience. Now if I could just get one of your smiling faces to drive here and help me with...
Read moreWas in the process of ordering lumber, flooring, cabinets, doors and many other things from menards in bay city. The Lady at cabinet counter was lovely. Absolutely amazing. Zack w. Or whatever his ponytail name was at the lumber counter was not. My husband ( who is disabled) needed a couple doors for our housing project. He was told they're upstairs. My husband asked if they could be put out back since we have a lot more to get and pick up, especially lumber out back. The counter guys again reiterated to my cerebral palsy having husband that they're upstairs. He again asked if possible for help. Again was rold he could get it himself. Was not told there waa an elevator. After finally climbing the stairs and finding the door burried under other heavier stuff, we opted to just cancel out entire housing remodel order. Including my online order of flooring and lighting for an entire house
Update: 10/11/2025 Been to the mount pleasant store, they have been wonderful. But just wanted to you to know, you lost over $10,000 in sales, as we had to do an entire remodel due to severe water damage on our house, to home...
