Long but detailed
Set an appointment to have a wake tower installed. Showed up the day it was scheduled and was told by the owner that I was there on the wrong date. I took a picture of there notebook, showing that I was on the schedule. To make it worse he told me that new boat sales were more important than my job...WOW! I left, but decided to turn around, Gerald said he would slide the work in and have it done by Saturday morning, I should have just left. He was in such a rush and not paying attention that when I explained this is a forward facing tower that fold down behind the windshield he took no notes. Come Saturday the tower was not completed as promised and we wasted most of the day strolling around Pella waiting. We received the call the tower was done, but they didnt run the speaker wiring because they didnt have any wire. Geeze, maybe tell the customer they have to provide this so the installation is done properly? Upon arriving....ugh the tower was mounted up by the windshield and fold to the front of the boat. At least it looks ok, just not where it was supposed to go and the bimini shade provides no shade now. As we looked at it there were scratches were the tower had folded forward and hit the boat. Gerald joked that a good buff would take those right out and would cost around $300. When I asked about the speakers he nonchalantly stated to just drill a hole in the side of the boat and run the wire up to the speakers. Pretty sure the wiring goes inside the tube for a professional look. Took the boat to the lake and it was completely dead, took it home and put my spare battery in, same result. At this time of changing the battery I discovered that both hydraulic lift arms on the engine cover were busted off along with my engine compartment divider. While fixing this I looked up the side of the boat to find the the Reinforcement Plates were not installed. Upon calling Malone Motors back it was very rudely explained to me that he (Gerald) did not go in the engine area at all, did not do anything to cause the engine to not start etc. He also stated that the reinforcement plates were never given to him. I took the boat back on Monday and wouldnt you know it, just needed a new battery according to Gerald. Way to get more money out of a customer. Took the boat out and went to go knee boarding with my son, tower moved about 6" so we shut it down. Called the tower company for clarification on the reinforcement plates. They provided a detailed list of all parts sent, shipping numbers etc, but took it a step further and sent me new ones at no charge. Called Malone motors to ask if Gerald was available and if the work could be completed (still no speakers at this time). Was told he was unavailable, so I messages the company on Facebook and within moments heis responding. Tells me that it will cost me labor and that I would need to provide the speaker wire this time. Needless to say the convo didnt go great, but in the end one thing was decided. My business will go elsewhere and Malone Motorsports has horrible customer service.
Now I am sure that Gerald will either delete this review or respond with another version of the events. There is always to sides to every story. However, please take the time to read all the reviews about this company. It appears as if you buy a new boat from them, you are in good hands. Buying a used boat, service or parts is another story. Dont make the mistake I did....read...
Read moreWe had used this business with much success for years as our family usually boats at Red Rock. When Tim was there (they would have received 5 stars). However, since Tim is no longer there, the business has went downhill!! Our most recent experience (2021 boating season), we launched for first time and our boat would not turn over. So we took the boat to Malone's for service requesting a complete system checkup after a new battery did not cure the problem. Malone's had boat for 3 weeks, we picked it up, paid our huge repair bill and took boat to south launch thinking we were going to have an enjoyable day boating. WRONG!!!! Less than five minutes on the water, alarms went off and boat temp hit almost 250---Thank Goodness DNR was there and helped us get back to the dock. We called Malone's but no one answered so we dropped boat off in their parking lot and called the following day. Service Manager was RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL at best. Blamed all the problems on us (seasoned boaters with a nice Chaparral). He wanted to take our boat out for more testing and additional repairs. We asked what happens if you blow our engine with the testing you are wanting to do....he just laughed at us and rudely commented... guess now you will be buying a new engine. We have talked to a couple of other mechanics that specialize in marine repairs and it is evident this "manager" doesn't have a clue what he is doing. After his RUDE comments and horrible customer service....we are taking all of our future business elsewhere and highly recommend others use caution when dealing with this...
Read moreOwner is very rude and does not seem knowledgeable. I was looking for some parts for my motor and he didn't have them and needed to order them. I asked for the part number so I can look up if that's what I need. You have to pay full price to even order a part from him so I wanted to know what I was getting would be right. He refused to let me know the part number and started screaming at me that " I was stealing from him!" Literally screaming. He also took the time to insult my clothing just to further prove what type of person he is. His claim is I was just going to order the part online and bypass him. Well, I already priced what j thought the part was online, but wanted to buy local and his shipping time was faster. Upon further investigation, the part I needed could be ordered for half of what he was asking. So, it seems like he is the one trying to steal from his customers with inflated parts prices.
Save yourself the trouble of an unprofessional and shady boat dealer and order your parts online or buy from another dealer. This guy clearly doesn't care about anything other than the money he can get from...
