How can you visit Wisconsin without learning about cheese? A thorough and comprehensive museum, with tours led by actual practicing cheesemakers. It's also a look back in time to an era when cheese was handcrafted by local farmers. It's an essential way to understand local culture--and cultures.

No doubt cheese is an important and intricate part of Wisconsin history. The museum was a surprisingly pleasant experience to walk through what that looked like, and how it affects the state economy today. Super family friendly, and great for all cheese lovers.

I visited with my family and it was well worth the stop! The tour was very informative and the staff/volunteers running it were incredibly friendly, informative, and helpful. My kids enjoyed learning about dairy, cheese, and cheesemaking as well as seeing all the cheesemaking equipment and photographs. The tour included two videos on cheesemaking and its history, and they even have an old train car to go inside! I would love to go back sometime when they do a cheesemaking demonstration. The restored century-old cheese factory on-site was well preserved and incredible to see. We spent between an hour and a half to two hours there and left with a great education on cheesemaking! This is a great stop if you are homeschooling, and would make a wonderful field trip destination. I highly recommend dropping in if you...
