McDains — Local services in Monroeville

This place was a dump. After looking at the website I thought it would be a decent place but the website was "false advertising". My main purpose in going here was to practice putting, chipping and teeing off grass (not mat). The putting green was basically a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet put down 50 years ago and was so weather worn covered with debris you could not putt on it. The grass area for chipping, etc. was so filled with holes, devits, etc. you could barely get a good stance without standing in a hole. It looks like this place has alot of wear and tear and nothing put back into it to keep up with normal maintenance. If you are looking for a place to simply drive off a matted tee area I'm sure this is sufficient. I feel kind of misled by their website.

Great range. Shop area empty. Could use a pga or lpga certified instructor to build more golf teaching programs and more kids programs at reasonable prices. Did not find the staff to exhibit professionalism in dress or enthusiasm. Overpriced cold vendor drinks. With empty shop, attitudes and golf dress lacking, it looks like a business about to go out of business. The driving range seems to thrive but marketing and professional help could make the golf business exhibit and preform financially stable a higher level. Women would flock to a place for lessons and practice if welcoming programs were given more time and priority. It's not always about a premium $10 price tag for s bucket of balls ... I am the Alumni Coordinator for a local rehabilitation facility and I was planning a day at the driving range for our alumni with another venue. After repeated attempts to work out details the other facility remained inflexible and I had to cancel. I was scrambling to and in a time crunch to get this event planned.
